Up until this Ivey mess I figured AK was safe...I'm not so sure now. 2020 All-Star Weekend seemed to be the national embarrassment needed to spark moving on from GarPax, and maybe this will be the final straw for AK now that this story is blowing up and making the Bulls look like the joke that they are.

We shall see if it has any staying power in the news cycle. Ivey himself could keep it in the news but I'm not sure he's disciplined enough to go grievance media tour

your friendly BullsBlogger's avatar

Yeah it appears this too has been subsumed by crushing Bulls irrelevance. They win again!

your friendly BullsBlogger's avatar

Bulls do have a home game today so part time media also descending on the team

...And it doesn't look like I was addressed.

Tre Jones was asked about it!

It's hard to give Cowley credit when so much of his writing is First Take type talk. I can't take any of it seriously. I mean I can believe Ivey was wearing others thin but I would like to see Cowley's "reporting" verified.

Poe on the other hand is a pro. I was never as negative in KC as others but Poe does all of his reporting, gets the local type takes that KC did, but is willing to challenge ownership in ways KC was hesitant to.

If there was lingering doubt that KC was still a journalist, look at the silence this week to confirm he's Bulls PR

Three home games left. If those seats are emptier than ever, it might be the final straw for the cheapskate Reinsdorfs.

No play-in revenue 😢

If a Benny throws a popcorn bag in the United Center, but no one’s there to hear it, does it make a sound?

to the homeless guys out there, probably every time

This team has won 1 single game since the roster overhaul. This guy hasn`t played or contributed squat. Most of these guys wont be here once the season ends. Move on!

For those keeping track at home, Patrick Williams is 3-24 in his last four games.

Also, there are only two teams in the league giving up more points per game than the Bulls: the Wizards and Jazz (the two teams that are getting national attention for how aggressively they’re tanking).

TC's avatar

there's no way he doesn't get waived via stretch provision next year, right?

SweetBeezus's avatar

A tank so ethical, it makes you want to gouge your eyes out.

AllyMeek's avatar

Those two at least knew they were going to be ass and started the tank early. Our Bozo FO thought this could be a playoff team! And when it became painfully obvious that wasn't the case they... waited a bit longer, racked up some more wins, then gutted the team to stack up them Ls. I feel like we've spent the entire post Rose/Jimmy years in this exact position.

God I hate this team. Why are we wasting our lives with these clueless losers in charge?

your friendly BullsBlogger's avatar

I haven't confirmed by listening but apparently Julia Poe revealed that it was the Reinsdorfs who made the call to cut Ivey. That may be a nail in AK's coffin, they don't like to 'be involved'

Jeff's avatar

Apparently he was doing this shit in Detroit, too?! The lack of due diligence done on Ivey is insane. I know nobody is lazier than AK, but wow.

your friendly BullsBlogger's avatar

AK is likely personally lazy but I think it's also true that they simply don't employ people, the kind of grunts who do background checks and pro scouting

Jeff's avatar

We trade away a player who has to miss a week with injury, our trade partner retroactively cuts our return in half. We trade for a player whose leg is falling off and is having a psychotic break, you live and you learn.

Mikeizbak's avatar

we also got and traded away Dieng, who does not look like a total bust...

Both cowley and stein reported yesterday that the bulls will be meeting in the next ten days to determine AKME's future. It's not as much of a fait accompli as Hoiberg or Tim Floyd. But reading between the lines it sure feels like elevating Donovan to the front office is gonna be the move?

Captain Kirk's Tooth Gap's avatar

Especially now that Donovan isn't going to UNC.

thekiltedwonder's avatar

That would make a lot of sense, since the UNC job was filled at almost the exact same time that AKME were fired.

Chi-Fed's avatar

UNC is hiring former Nuggets coach Mike Malone as their new head coach so that that removes one potential destination for Billy. There is a chance that he goes to a different NBA team though. It does appear that he is sick of AKME’s shit.

Curtain Jerker's avatar

Thank Christ. Not that I expect them to hire anyone better but that’s tomorrow’s problem.

Jay Went's avatar

Is Billy Donovan "better?"

(I think yes)

Punchandjudy's avatar

Billy as President of operations and hiring a new coach?

SweetBeezus's avatar

Elevating Billy to the FO and Wes Unseld Jr. to HC would be underwhelming (and very Bullsian), but ultimately I'd be fine with it. They are signaling they are going to do a comprehensive search, though.

SweetBeezus's avatar

Let's gooooooo!!!

Chi-Fed's avatar

Praise Jeebus! I didn’t think the Bulls would do it, but the Ivey situation was just too embarrassing.

Punchandjudy's avatar

Glad they fired the crew, man I had so much hope for the last crew, until about year 3.

I am not sure if I have hope in the new process
