I'm not sure he's statistically worse than Vooch at defense this year, but I do find it hilarious that the Bulls fans who hate Vooch because of his terrible defense seem to love Drummond. They're both bad defenders and both aren't particularly good on offense. Drummond is a perfectly serviceable backup but if you think he should be a starter, I can't take it seriously.
I think the reason some fans love Drummond is that he's elite at one thing (rebounding) while Vuc is pretty much mid (at best) at everything. Other than cashing checks, you can't really point to anything Vuc does as being great.
Completely agree. I genuinely do enjoy watching Drummond play, but I enjoy watching him play because he's playing a role he should be playing (backup center). I think that's also part of what people hate about Vooch. Vooch would probably be a perfectly fine backup center on the right team and at the right price. But not only does he not deserve to be a starter, his skillset doesn't compliment this team in any way, which only makes him look even worse.
1. Good luck. Jerry is notoriously cheap and Billy's extension hasn't even started yet. Jerry isn't going to pay Billy to sit at home while also paying another coach.
2. Not gonna happen. Coby and Ayo both deserve to start and both are clearly guards (even if they're both more combo guards than point guards). Plus, AK is hell bent on Lonzo coming back and being playable. You and I agree that's not going to happen.
3. Can't trade Zach without including other assets due to how much he's making and how bad he was last year. Pat's contract is up after this year, so the only way to trade him would be a sign and trade, which seems highly unlikely. Won't have money to sign an all-star caliber player at any position if DeMar is brought back.
4. Can't afford Andre if DeMar and Pat are brought back. You may not want Pat brought back, but it's clear AK wants to bring him back.
5. Can't even afford to bring Drummond back. Obviously can't afford to bring Drummond back and add another center. Can't trade Vooch because he's hella overpaid.
I'm not even against some of your suggestions, but they're also completely crazy because they can't happen. Why not just say you want them to trade Vooch for Jokic and Zach for Tyrese Halliburton if you're going to be that unrealistic?
Billy is a model employee. And he knows that for some bizarre reason Vuc is the most important player for the franchise. Keep Vuc happy, keeps AK smirk-y
Honestly, it's become hard to care about this team. The win over Minnesota should have been fun and exciting but it was difficult for me to even sit up straight on the couch at the end.
front office and ownership are dumb as shit, not realizing that enthusiasm on a game-to-game (REGULAR SEASON NBA) basis can be achieved through actually making the team "interesting" and "going somewhere"
they're aiming so low they are happy that people in the building are excited. It's a huge market and global brand and NBA games are entertaining (somewhat), that is not a high degree of difficulty
Best outcome would be sliding to 10 and losing the play-in in Atlanta so no home revenue for the Bulls. They couldn't say that the team made the playoffs and the collapse would put their record at worse than last year's. I'm sure AK would say "we were right there" and point to Zach's injury as an excuse, but it would at least be a financial failure.
you can tell the Bulls are treating this game seriously. Oh, wait, instead they're keeping Javonte Green away from the team as to not to sign him to a 10 day contract too early
Capela is 4 years younger, substantially better, and is paid essentially the same as Vuc, who had a robust 5 points while going 2-7 tonight.
If this was the Western Conference this team would not be able to save face by pretending to be in a meaningful playoff hunt. I really think this play in stuff is dumb. There is no need to play 82 games to let 2/3 of the league make the playoffs. We've been well sorted on who should actually make the playoffs before now. Or if we're going to let 20 teams in at least make it the 20 best teams. Don't let detritus teams like the Bulls in via quirk of geography.
I'm convinced they extended Donovan so he'd shut up and stick around during all this. Maybe that is obvious to everyone else and doesn't need saying.
Bulls trading Zach for Tyrese could happen, but you have to figure in the monkey's paw making it happen. Zombie Tyrese, turns out it's Ty Reese-Halliburton, that sort of thing.
Drummond is an even worse defender, FYI

lol seriously? as if the signing wasn't boring enough, now they're being extra bulls lol.

Zach for Tyrese Gibson works in the trade machine.
