He’s young, a former player, has been an assistant for a little while, and even has some head coach experience. It’s a very logical hire for a rebuilding team with a legitimate chance for upside.
Blazers fans seem to like him well enough. I know there were some complaints about his rotations, specifically in the play-in, but I’m not worried about that.
I also like that we were able to get him simply by offering more money than another team. That’s some big boy shit and the Bulls should act that way regularly.
To add a bit to the international component of his CV, he was very well regarded at Paris and won them their first league title. They are not an old club but it is a trophy in the cabinet.

going from bad (unpleasant) to bad (young/boring/rebuilding) makes it hard to have any substantial feelings for either graham and now whichever cannon fodder coach he brings in on his first try.
it's a comparison league, so hard not to look at the knicks timeline in hiring leon rose and letting Premier Guy thibodeau grind the Premier Market roster into paste. it took six seasons, a coaching change, and trading two-hundred first round picks to become a contender in the JV conference.
All that to say, it's a challenge to invest emotionally in these moves knowing we're *probably* four years of splitter and whichever guy they hire after him from dreaming of maybe, perhaps, considering the chance of possibly seeing an interesting (good) bulls team.
Deni Avdija looking like a stud last year probably had something to do with this. Deni's game is sort of a hybrid of some of the best aspects of Giddey and Buzelis.
Deni’s playmaking took a huge step forward this year, so I’m sure that was meaningful to Graham. Remember, he went out of his way during his introductory press conference to praise the Celtics for having forwards who can handle the ball.
He’s likely hoping Splitter can take Deni’s development as a passer and apply that to Matas and (probably) Caleb.
Or if it's Boozer, Cam is probably already more advanced than Matas or Caleb from a playmaking perspective but the same logic applies, in terms of how forwards are utilized.

If the Bulls do draft Morez Johnson, I feel like he'll be their next Taj Gibson. I could see him being one of their more impactful players but usually coming off the bench due to more talented players starting and the fact that he's a bit of a tweener between power forward and center.
With that being said, a bench front court of Leonard Miller, Noa Essengue, and Johnson could be quite fun defensively, even if there's very little offense. It would help make up for what could possibly be a bench backcourt of Dillingham and Tre Jones.
