I wasn’t expecting a Torrey Craig post today, but I’m here for it. The Bulls are so damn depressing. They’re so far away from contention that I literally don’t know what moves they could make to make themselves better in five years.
So Craig scoring 15 on 10 shots with 2 orebs and 2 assists is offensively "great", but Pat scoring 17 on 9 shots with 2 orebs and 2 assists didn't even count as playing well?
One guy isn't expected to contribute at the level that he contributed. The other guy is expected to contribute at the level he contributed MORE CONSISTENTLY, but has failed to do so thus far in his career.
Yes 17 pts on 9 shots with 2 rebs an 2 ast is a good game, but at this point in his career and as far as what the Bulls NEED from Patrick Williams, that should be a regular occurence, not a random blip on the radar.
Was Patrick watching the game? Did he see how AGGRESSIVE Torrey Craig was when he got the ball? In that one clip alone I saw more agression from Torrey than I've seen from Patrick in his ENTIRE CAREER! Waiting for this disaster cruise to crash into the nearest shoreline, but right now it's just aimlessly floating in the middle of the ocean. Let's check in on the young "ish" passengers and how they're doing:
Giddey - Should've left him in OKC especially seeing as they're still playing as if they want to make the play-in yet again. There was a reason they were relegating him to back up duty Arturas.....
Matas - Can't/won't see the floor because Billy Donovan "ain't no tanking he bitch" (somebody told me he said this in practice one time...)
Dalen - Still offensively challenged, but seeing more tick than Matas (who's more offensively skilled)
Patrick - Should be paid in peanuts. That contract is giving me Cristiano Felicio vibes already.
Julian - My heart yearns for JP to start over the guy up there ^^ if they're ACTUALLY trying to see what he's got. He's just as good of a shooter and defender and he's kinda like HEALTHY nshit.
Ayo - Best damn pick/decision AKME has made since taking over the FO.
Coby - Not an AKME guy, but plays the game well and has come into his own. (Who would've thought that THIS No. 7 pick would be the one to pan out here?)
All in all they're on the right track to keep the pick as long as they keep piling up those losses. And hey look at the bright side, things could be worse. They could be THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS who are damn near dead last in the league and their pick goes to OKC if it falls outside the Top 6.
I'd like to see Julian Phillips get some of PW's minutes also. I think we've all seen enough now to know it wasn't the "ball dominance" of other players that was detracting from PW's development, if we can call it that. I know he's become a better 3 shooter but I'm not sure what else he's gotten better at since he was drafted.
If Matas can learn how to be a pro (diet, training, etc.), stay healthy (rookie walls) and ramp up to 20 mpg by the end of the season, that would be ideal. I couldn't care less that he isn't throwing passes into the 5th row in November. Eight to 10 minutes per game seems a little low if we were looking back on an entire season but virtually a rounding error compared to where he should be (idk, 12?)
Hawks / Bulls, avian vs mammal, the ancient rivalry, the play-in grudge game, two peoples going nowhere fast, knowing neither head nor tail nor the distance inbe'ween. Entropy. Nemesis.
Now that's a tanking team right there. Playing three rookies significant minutes, as well as a second year player. They also have a few nice veterans on that team who are probably good guys to have in the locker room, but are also solid trade pieces.
I know Sarr has really struggled from three so far, but I think last night showed what he can be. He's already incredibly versatile on defense and I was surprised Vooch didn't bully him more with how skinny Sarr still is. Probably has more to do with Vooch being soft...
Anyway, when he's knocking down threes, he looks excellent. I really liked him getting rebounds and pushing the ball up the floor and initiating the offense. He also showed a nice passing touch in half court sets too. If Washington can develop him, he could be a legitimate two way player for the foreseeable future.
First 20 games: 12 road, 8 home, 5 b2b (orlando tonight, an L you'd think)
Next 20 games (before IST games scheduled): 6 road, 14 home, 2 b2b
This team is super bad defensively, but if schedule matters, they're 8 - 11 with a schedule that's against them and a much more spaced out and comfortable schedule ahead, they'll be 40 games in and still hanging in the middle of the standings.

sure, they can't all be "this is hopeless" posts, though there is some in there with Pat's season (and career) and AK's trading history

Conceding he played well in that one game is genuinely all I wanted. Thank you.
::stern judge voice:: I'll allow it
Lol I really do miss him.
Oh you didn't mean David Stern probably. LOL
no I think that counts, so Pat and Craig are tied in good games with one (1)
it was a good game objectively, and "great" for Craig grading on an age and salary curve
