That is an amazing AC quote. Somewhat related, I watched a bit of the NBC Sports Chicago post-game on YT. First of all, I'm surprised Kendall Gill doesn't physically muzzle Will Perdue. Dude makes his points at the speed of glacier. Kind of like he played! Second, Perdue (and KG) seem so sincerely and passionately to believe that "if only the Bulls played hard like this, every game! They could contend with any team in the East!" Yeah, no. "Playing hard" is so obviously not the real problem. But so many former players say stuff like that. Clearly they know a lot about basketball, but I wonder if it's some holdover mentality from the playing days. Because I guess, when you're actually playing, you don't have much else you can do other than try harder? Or maybe they're not allowed to say "this roster sucks," because that gets suspiciously close to criticizing the organization itself. I dunno.
Is a fully healthy Lavine better than Booker (who btw was 1st team All-NBA last season)? Seems like the answer is yes. That's significant.
Did the season change when two young players with major holes in their game (Ayo and PW) were replaced by defensive-minded vets? Yes. Again, significant. And if a bigger, rebounding, better shooting Lonzo can ever slide in vs. PatBev, even better. Why was a team trying to win now put in that position by AKME? Hmmm. Dumb or passive? Is there any difference?
Do we need more three point shooting? Yes. Vuc provides a decent bit I assume he'll be overpriced and so should be sign-and-traded. Demar none, and should have been traded for max value at trade deadline. Trade/sign-trade them for some 3-D youth and the window shifts and things could get interesting.
Is PW finally looking like he could be valuable? Yes. But for whatever reason he will always defer to DDR. Another reason its time to move on.
