I said both teams are at (much different) crossroads but I'm likely wish casting for the Bulls. They won't do anything different whether they go 2-0 or 0-2
FWIW, about to cancel my over-priced, under-performing (glitchy in 2025!) CHSN subscription. Yes I'm a glutton for punishment, and yes re: regional sports networks YouTubeTV is a worse corporate citizen than Comcast.
this might be common knowledge but it's comical how the new league pass for single teams works. sure it's 14 bucks nbd, but then they get you with 'oh this game is on the fanduel network' (also lol upon learning that exists), which is 20 a month haha. then on top of learning that, later on we see 'oh, this game is on peacock' LOL. what a racket
Yes ridiculous. I'm also realizing that for the first time in decades I'm stuck watching commercials, whether it's the Bulls or the NBA cup last night. It's just too big of a hurdle to jump out of an app during a commercial and then sign in and jump back in vs clicking through cable channels. So you sit and watch commercial breaks on services that you're paying premium monthly charges for. Insane. While they sell ads to gambling sites and for the NBA cup Abu Dhabi vacations. Got to love that sovereign fund money!
I've never used the CHSN app (not giving Jerry my money), but are you able to start a game late and catch up as you go? That's what I used to do when I had League Pass. That way I could just fast forward through timeouts and halftime and not have to watch commercials.
Key to Bulls victory tonight was that AK's 5 years worth of draft picks played a total of 33 minutes. Billy deserves another contract extension and perhaps a promotion.
Sigh...well they won again. I find myself having no interest in it. If you're a Zach Collins and Isaac Okoro away from 'competitive' then you're not really competing for anything
That aside, I will observe that Matas played well (and a lot). And see Giddey maintain starter-level play. Those are good things.
What’s interesting is that there’s actual potential for this team to be good.
Giddey is good. Tre is good. Matas is promising. Coby and Ayo are valuable role players.
But AK doesn’t know what he’s doing. He doesn’t acquire draft picks. He’s drafted too many bad players. He outbids himself for players no one else wants to sign (Vuc and Pat). He refuses to set goals for a given season because he’s afraid of accountability.
Some creative trades could have this team looking legitimate as soon as next year. But AK just isn’t that guy.
They are going to sit out the deadline again. There is no buy trade they have confidence to do, and won't sell any pieces because they've seen how the team craters with even a couple role players missing. Everyone covering the team will say 'well they didn't utilize the expiring contracts while they had a chance, but let's wait and see what they can do with cap space'
Also, most other front offices in the league don't like working with AKME if they don't have to, so they can't squeeze value out of being the third or fourth team that facilitates other teams' trades.
Right they are like $11M under the luxury tax and could take a contract dump, but other teams will figure why call AK and explain what the second round of the draft is again
It's genuinely wild how quickly AK turned out to be even worse than GarPax. I think the last interesting move that made the team better was when they signed Derrick Jones Jr. In 2022?
Ha forgot that's how they got him. Was just scrolling transactions to try to find the last time I felt good about being a bulls fan. It's been so long it's hard to remember the details!

Would be cool to see sparse crowds booing though

Creative trades, you say. What are you thinking? Anthony Davis, maybe?
Tre Jones is just a role player. I think Coby is more than that but they aren't going to get that value in a trade.

Ah yes, when they traded a future All-Star for Derrick Jones Jr. What a great trade!
Ha forgot that's how they got him. Was just scrolling transactions to try to find the last time I felt good about being a bulls fan. It's been so long it's hard to remember the details!
It was a sign-and-trade, wasn't it? Not the best decision to not re-sign Lauri, but Jones, a contingent first and a 2nd was OK I think for an S&T.
I wonder if regrets for giving up on Lauri too soon factored into AK hanging on to Williams.
It was the Blazers who screwed up that trade, putting in a first rounder so they could get Larry Nance Jr.
