Can the Bulls Turn this Losing Stretch Around?

Bulls fans are at a loss for words at this point. To say this has been a rollercoaster of emotions does not detail the wide range of emotions Bulls fans feel. Bulls fans had some expectations prior to the season, maybe a run to the playoffs or the second round, but that’s about it. Fans were excited to see what the new team could do but never had the loftiest expectations until the season started, and the Bulls were one of the hottest, if not the hottest, team in the league, blowing everyone’s mind with just how dominant they were.

Going into the All-star break, the Chicago Bulls were number one in the east, right next to the Miami Heat, who look amazing. The Bulls’ primary duo of Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan performed as some of the best players in the league on the offensive end. DeRozan was looked at as potentially the MVP of the league, while LaVine was a second option due to his injuries and time off with COVID. With DeRozan being unbelievable, it showed Bulls fans that LaVine is all about winning rather than stats.

After the All-star break, the Bulls took a downhill spiral. The Bulls were projected to have the second-worst remaining schedule in the league, and with a very competitive division, the Bulls needed to lock up some wins. The Bulls ended up winning their first game against the Hawks but are now on a five-game losing streak to the Grizzlies, Heat, Hawks, Bucks, and got dominated by the new-look 76ers. They continued to have no answer to Embiid, especially with Vooch out.

At this point, if we look at just the games played since the break, it is difficult to believe that the Bulls have a chance to regain their momentum of dominance. But, the Bulls have must-win games against the Pistons and the Kings, with the Cavs in-between. Suppose the Bulls can get back on track against those teams. In that case, I expect the Bulls to turn around and get back on track, especially with the news that Caruso will be back sooner than later. On the defensive end, Caruso is the leader of the team and is one of the most intelligent players in the league that changed the team’s view of what they can achieve.

If the Bulls can pull off some wins asap, they will get back on track, but if they can, and they get back Caruso, Ball, and Williams, it is difficult to see them regain a top spot in the East without wins behind them because it could be too late, but only time will tell.
