On a night where there was plenty of activity, the Bulls didn’t participate and instead held on to their single selection in the 2nd round.
With that #38 overall selection, they took Ayo Dosunmu. Dosunmu is a 6’5” guard out of the University of Illinois (shout-out to Jason, and me!), and before that a local product out of Chicago.
I won’t pretend to know anything about anybody. Some of the resident draft nerds on Twitter are upset that Ayo was picked over Sharife Cooper. Like Cooper, Ayo was mostly mocked in the first round. Our guy Ricky had him at #28. ESPN had him at #34 and Kevin Pelton’s statistical model put him all the way down at #59.
Here are some draft profiles from our SBNation bretheren to chew over tonight:
As someone craven for mere activity, ya know what: I’m still calm. Whatever happened tonight it’s still a vast improvement over GarPax selling an early 2nd rounder in night one of a rebuild, or starting a fucking press conference while the draft was still going on.
We will have more tomorrow on Dosunmu and his particular fit on the Bulls. He’ll undoubtedly be a part of the summer league roster, and very likely snag a regular season roster spot given the available ones for the Bulls, even after free agency begins next week.
