In case you somehow missed it, Zach LaVine made the 12-man Team USA roster for the Tokyo Olympics, which is pretty neat. It gives him a chance to practice and play with some of the other best players in the world this offseason, and maybe he can even do some recruiting for the Bulls. Or if you’re a pessimist, others will be recruiting him. LaVine did talk Friday about contract extension talks starting “soon” but was rather vague and just said it’s “going to play out the right way.”

Either way, this is a cool honor for him and should be a great experience, even if he doesn’t play all that much in the Olympics after he was one of the last players revealed for the roster. Team USA has been practicing over the last week in Vegas in preparation for the Summer Games (first real game is vs. France on July 25), and the first exhibition contest is against Nigeria at 7 p.m. on Saturday night. The game will be televised on NBCSN.

Team USA will be favored to win gold for a fourth straight Olympics and is loaded with bucket-getters. Here’s the full roster:

  • Zach LaVine
  • Kevin Durant
  • Damian Lillard
  • Devin Booker
  • Bradley Beal
  • Jayson Tatum
  • Khris Middleton
  • Jrue Holiday
  • Jerami Grant
  • Bam Adebayo
  • Draymond Green
  • Kevin Love

In other Team USA news, Patrick Williams is a member of the Select Team training with the Olympic team in Vegas. This is also a good experience for the youngster as he looks to make a big leap in Year 2. Williams even had dinner with LaVine and got some Select Team tips!
