no Zach LaVine

NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Chicago Bulls Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

John Paxson’s actually good week ends today but likely won’t get much better as the Bulls are in San Antonio to face the Spurs. Worth mentioning: did you know Jim Boylen coached under Gregg Popovich there?

The Spurs have had a more challenging season than usual, but are riding a 4-game win streak with their last 2 wins over the Suns and Clippers coming in blowout fashion. Pau Gasol is still out for them but besides that they’re at full strength.

If you recall around Thanksgiving when these teams first met, the Bulls were nearly a Ryan Arcidiacono prayer away from a crazy comeback win. That game also had the familiar traits of Zach LaVine being up and down, but the bench being putrid.

We won’t have LaVine to over-judge for the time being, as he’s out this game and potentially a while longer. Boylen confirmed after shootaround today that Kris Dunn will start at the two-guard alongside Arcidiacono. Chandler Hutchison is available for this one after missing Thursday’s game with an illness, so no we likely won’t see much, or any, of Jabari Parker.

Game Time: 7:30pm Central, on WGN
