Bulls vs. Mavericks game preview, injury report, lineups

Bulls creeping back to...a few games under .500?

The Bulls have been playing passably the past couple weeks, which is commendable. It’s been mostly ‘competitive losses’ and even a few wins in there. Another one could be tonight as they host the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs come in with a 4-8 record, an average offense (13th in ORtg) but one of the worst defenses in the league (26th). And the Bulls have performed better at home (or maybe I’m just blinded by ‘home Justin Holiday’ becoming a third splash brother in the UC).

These teams met already, way back in the 3rd game of the season. The Mavericks did not have Harrison Barnes, but kept the game close and eventually took over on a 4th quarter meltdown by Chicago. You may recall that it was Kris Dunn’s only game this season, and there was already a tug of war between him and Zach LaVine in terms of late-game shots.

(you may also likely not recall this, because this season is just a useless blur)

As for tonight, it’s the usual guys out for the Bulls. For the Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki has yet to play this year, Wesley Matthews is out, and I see rookie Luka Doncic as ‘questionable’ though no update today on that front. That obviously impacts the watchability of this game immensely.

Look for a repeat of the new-look Bulls rotation where Hoiberg has gone with less actively-terrible options than Cam Payne and Cristiano Felicio.
