It was a tough ending to the season for Denzel Valentine. He fell out of the rotation right before the playoffs started and didn’t see any meaningful minutes in the series against Boston. It looks like his summer is off to a rough start as well.
Originally found by Bulls Reddit, Valentine recently posted a picture on Instagram of him staring off into a view of the sunset...with his left leg was in a walking boot.
It was later confirmed by K.C. Johnson that Valentine recently had a scope on that ankle will be out for 3-4 weeks.
It’s the ankle he’s sprained twice this season. In the third quarter of the Bulls first pre-season game Valentine rolled his left ankle and subsequently missed two weeks after that. He stayed healthy after that until the beginning of 2017 when he turned that same ankle against the Hornets, causing him to miss about a week. Rolling the same ankle twice in a year is certainly cause for some concern and it seems to have lingered into the offseason.
Thankfully, like K.C. mentioned, this doesn’t affect Valentine’s status for Summer League, which is something he definitely needs to be a part of. Valentine has a lot to work on in his game, most specifically defense and adding more offensive dimensions besides 3-points shooting. The Bulls will be hoping that Valentine can make a quick recovery as he is expected to take on a bigger role next season.
