UPDATE: Jimmy Butler is OUT tonight. MCW gets the start again alongside Grant and Wade
[Thanks to Walker for today’s game preview -yfbb]
Game 52: Bulls (25-26) @ Kings (19-31)
Game Time: 9:30 on Comcast Sports Network Chicago
Jimmy Butler—game-time decision with a heel injury.
Cristiano Felicio—Out with an ankle injury
Omri Casspi—Out with a foot injury
Rudy Gay—Out for season with torn achilles.
The last meeting was January 21, 2017 where the Bulls won 102-99 on an egregious foul call against the Kings that sealed the deal for the Bulls.
The Bulls are sitting at 25-26 heading to Sacramento to face off with the Kings. The Kings are the same team they usually are where they rely on DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay to provide about 70% of their offense and take whatever they can get from anyone else on a nightly basis. The problem with that this season is that Rudy Gay is now out for the remainder of the season, and so the Kings are heavily reliant on DeMarcus Cousins to provide insane numbers every single night, which he does a good bit of the time.
Chicago will need a group effort to beat the Kings tonight, and shouldn’t focus on stopping Cousins and focus on stopping the supporting cast. The Bulls are too talented of a team for Cousins to beat them by himself. Chicago needs to stop people like Darren Collison, Ben McLemore, and Willie Cauley-Stein in order to win this one. The Kings are awful defensively ranking 26 out of 30 in defensive efficiency.
If Jimmy Butler plays than it’ll provide a lift, if not than look for Wade to have a big game. I don’t expect Cousins to score 42 and pull down 14 rebounds in the process. Cousins will have big numbers but not those kind of big numbers.
The Kings have a superstar but he won’t do enough for Sacramento to beat the Bulls tonight. If Butler plays he will have a big game and I also expect to see good numbers from Dwyane Wade and Doug McDermott .
