Breaking news Monday morning, as the Bulls announced they’ve suspended starting point guard Rajon Rondo for ‘conduct detrimental to the team’. He won’t be playing in tonight’s game against the Blazers.

No word yet on the reason for the disciplinary action.

Rondo followed up one of this best games of the year with one of his worst. The Bulls have been typically better with him off the floor, and coincidentally one of his other absences this year was against the Blazers in Portland, where backup Jerian Grant had a phenomenal night.

As we know, Rondo is a misunderstood genius moody weirdo, and has has run-ins with all of the teams he’s played with in his career. We’ll have to see whether this is a major thing or a minor one.

UPDATE:

Per Woj, the suspension is a result of Rondo getting in a ‘heated exchange’ with an unnamed Bulls assistant coach. He has since apologized and as KC Johnson noted he was at a team function on Sunday.
