There have been reports that Jimmy Butler doesn't want to sign a five-year max deal with the Bulls, but he's considering signing a five-year deal with a player option, according to Shams Charania of RealGM. Charania says Butler plans to sleep on the offer before making a decision on it.
KC followed up with this:
Butler seeking player option in any deal he signs. More open to 5-year deal if structured as such.— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) July 1, 2015
Needless to say, this would be a huge win for the Bulls. Having Butler under control for four years with a deal starting at around $16 million would be fantastic with the cap set to explode, and it would take some of the sting off not getting that deal done last offseason after some of the rumors we've heard.
Butler is certainly deserving of this contract, and hopefully he has a good sleep and takes that deal.
