This season FiveThirtyEight developed their player projection model CARMELO, used as a means of identifying similar players throughout NBA history, and in turn being able to forecast what a certain player's future might look like as a result. In conjunction with this model, FiveThirtyEight has been making season predictions for every NBA team leading up to the start of the season.
FiveThirtyEight pegs the Bulls to finish the 2015-2016 season with a 47-35 record, slightly below last season's finish of 50-32. Throughout the post, FiveThirtyEight provided CARMELO projections for key members of this season's Bulls roster. Check out a few quotes from FiveThirtyEight on Jimmy Butler and Doug McDermott below.
On Jimmy Butler:
...He is on record as saying he wants to prove last season wasn't a "fluke," and CARMELO doesn't think it was, projecting Butler as an All-Star-caliber player this season.
...With McDermott's renewed confidence, the Bulls expect big things from the former Creighton sharpshooter. CARMELO...does not expect big things.
In the same piece, FiveThirtyEight projects each player's Plus-Minus as well as WARP projections over the next four seasons among other statistics. Head over to FiveThirtyEight to read more on their season prediction for the Bulls.
