Doug McDermott to return tonight vs. Cavaliers

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The Bulls have lost 5 of their last 7 games, but some good news to start this week.

It's been 5 weeks since McDermott had arthroscopic knee surgery, and he's been practicing for the last week or so.

I figure he'll get some time, as the Bulls will still be without Mike Dunleavy in their wing rotation. Thibs has been a bit schizophrenic with the spot alongside Jimmy Butler: Tony Snell has gone from starting to DNP-CD, and E'twaun Moore has soaked up a lot of time and has looked to be the type of player who gets lauded for not throwing the ball to the beer vendor. Kirk Hinrich, as expected, has started and played too many minutes, and at shootaround this morning was practicing with the starting group.

McDermott was on the outside looking in and not performing well even prior to the surgery, but outside shooting is something the Bulls desperately need right now with Dunleavy out. So here's hoping he gets the chance and makes something of it. Or more accurately, just makes shots. He won't help the Bulls rampant defensive issues but outscoring the other team works in any fashion.
