Prior to Tuesday's quarterfinal game against Slovenia, Derrick Rose hadn't been very good at the World Cup. Rose vowed to be better against Slovenia, and lo and behold, the Bulls star played his best game of the tournament in a 119-76 victory.
Rose was aggressive immediately upon checking into the game, and although he missed his first layup, he stayed with the play and followed up with a make. Moments later, this happened:
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. There were several more moments like this:
Rose's jumper was still a bit off for most of the game, but he capped off his performance with this beauty:
Rose finished the game with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and he also added five assists. Rose had a really nice lob to Klay Thompson on the break, and he also had a chance to throw down a fast-break dunk himself, but he chose to lay it off to DeMarcus Cousins instead. That was about the only disappointing thing about Rose's performance, maybe besides a couple ugly threes and one bad turnover.
But on the whole, this was a great performance by Rose and just great to see after his really bad effort against Mexico. Hopefully we see more of this going forward.
