Chicago Bulls vs. Dallas Mavericks final score: Bulls lose in double-OT

What a crazy game.

The Mavericks brought in the league's best offense and showed it off quite a bit in the Bulls return from the circus trip. But the Bulls started to get things going themselves, and came back from a 12 point halftime deficit. They then forced a long scoreless stretch from Dallas to put themselves up 6 with under five minutes to go.

The Mavs hit enough shots and FTs to stay close, and then took advantage of a couple of Bulls late miscues: first a Jimmy Butler missed FT, then an abominable play by Kirk Hinrich where with the Bulls up 3 he tried to deliberately foul Monta Ellis after Ellis was well into a shooting motion. Ellis sank them all and it went to overtime.

After a back-and-forth overtime, Derrick Rose hit this insane bank-shot floater from three to send the game in to double-overtime.

Unfortunately Dallas had one too many baskets in them in Double Overtime, as this Monta Ellis deep three (to bring his total points in the game to 38) was what finished the Bulls.

A ton went on tonight: huge performances by Mirotic (regulation), Butler (1st OT), Gasol (2nd OT), big minutes from Gasol and Mike Dunleavy, a bunch of runs back and forth by both teams.

It really hurts the Bulls couldn't have sealed this one in regulation, as they now take the loss and are back on the court in Charlotte in less than 20 hours. Knowing Thibs and this team, though, they could easily win that one.
