It's been real, Marquis Teague. The Bulls traded their first round pick in the 2012 draft on Saturday, sending the 20-year-old point guard to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for 22-year-old forward Toko Shengelia. It's a move that saves money next season, as Shengelia will be a restricted free agent. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Bulls did not extend him a qualifying offer.
Shengelia has spent most of the last two years playing in the D-League. He's 6'9, 220 lbs. and was taken with the No. 54 pick in the 2012 draft. His D-League stats are fairly impressive:
I've written a lot about Teague and am glad I don't have to write about him anymore. He's a young guy and very well may have a good pro career. It's going to take a lot of patience, though. The Bulls decided they don't have it.
