A 'nearly completed draft' of the schedule for the new NBA season has the Bulls and Miami Heat facing off on opening night, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Yes, that means the Bulls get to stir on the sidelines while the team that eliminated them from the playoffs last season is awarded with their championship rings prior to tip-off. This sounds like a lot of fun.
It isn't the first time the Bulls have faced the Heat on opening night after a Miami championship. We all remember James Posey breaking Tyrus Thomas' nose, yes? The Bulls thumped Miami 108-66 way back in 2006 behind 26 points from Kirk Hinrich (!) and 20 from Chris Duhon (!!).
You may already be aware, but this game is set to mark for the first real action for Derrick Rose in 18 months. How long is that? Consider MJ's first retirement lasted 21 months. It's been a slow, arduous and emotional process for everyone involved, but this is a great way to see Rose welcomed back.
I am excited for this!
