Joakim Noah named to NBA All-Defensive First Team

Get that, Jo.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

After finishing fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, Joakim Noah was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team on Monday. Noah and Tyson Chandler both made it onto the First Team at the center position by virtue of a tie.

This could be characterized as somewhat of a surprise considering the fact that Marc Gasol earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. But there are different voters for that award (media) and the All-Defensive Teams (coaches), which help explains why something like this happens. Gasol was named to the All-Defensive Second Team.

Rounding out the First Team were Tony Allen, LeBron James, Serge Ibaka and Chris Paul. Allen edged James for the most points in the voting, while both players shared 25 first-place votes.

Noah becomes the first Bull to be named to the All-Defensive First Team since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in 1997-98. So Jo, how do you feel about that?
