[UPDATE by your friendly BullsBlogger, 06/26/12 10:22 AM CDT: Just remembered to check who Roy's agent is, and it's Reinsdorf best pal Arn Tellem. So the Bulls being thrown in there is perhaps just to help Tellem's client's value. Sort of like Tracy McGrady last season (thought that didn't help TMac much). ]
As ex-Portland Trail Blazer Brandon Roy plans his comeback to the NBA, the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as serious suitors to sign the former All-Star guard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Golden State Warriors have also expressed strong interest with Roy.
There's a reason Roy was forced to retire, but taking risks like this is something the Bulls should consider with their limited (self-imposed and otherwise) options to add talent. The 'original' Brandon Roy would be ideal, of course.
Roy was Amnestied by the Blazers, and thus received his full massive contract. So it's possible he looks for fit over money, which is music to Sam Smith's ears.
But maybe not:
Several teams could be willing to use their full-mid level exception for Roy, sources said. 1500-AM Radio in Minneapolis reported that the Wolves were prepared to make Roy a two-year contract offer.
