I wanted to change up this portion to better define some of the ways I approach subjects based on my understanding of history. It's not always the accurate understanding of history and by that I mean there is the history as it appears in the texts used in schools and the history as it actually is known as a summary of competing views.
Basketball is my outlet of pleasure. I play it. I watch it. I study it. I love it. It's one constant in life that always allows me to relax and recycle thoughts about life, work, family, and future. Basketball is a game with a set of rules designed by humans to create a framework by which two teams can compete against each other on relatively equal terms. In a perfect world, almost everything would operate by the same standards. In reality, it does not.
Since it does not, I read competing views of history on a regular basis. I've read Ron Chernow's books about the House of Morgan and John D. Rockefeller. After reading Chernow's book on Rockefeller I read Harvey Wasserman's "The History of the United States" for the competing view. I'll read the lead editorial in the Wall Street Journal in the morning and the lead editorial in the NY Times in the evening. I read David Horowitz's "Radical Son" there followed by David Brock's "Blinded by the Right". I read Bernie Goldberg's "Biased" there followed by Eric Alterman's "What Liberal Media".
My primary objective is to collect as much information as possible to improve my forward thinking through a greater understanding of the events preceding my life. Why I was I born where I was born? Why do I live in Chicago? Why do I stay in Chicago? These are just a few examples of the things I ponder.
From an early age there was one question I always asked; Why do things exist the way they do?
My avatar is Cobra Commander from G.I. Joe. My other favorite character is Starscream from the Transformers. Both characters were voiced by the same man Chris Latta. What made both characters appealing to me was their wicked plans to destroy their opponents, but their personalities always would stand in the way of success.
