"If you get traded, obviously another team wants you, so it's always a positive in that way," Hughes said. "I definitely want to play minutes and contribute. That's a focus of mine. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to do that in the near future."

Hughes wants to be traded, who could have guessed?! Make it happen, Pax!

Don't be surprised if the Bulls make at least two deals this season. I know they've talked with perhaps a dozen teams in recent weeks, though this is hardly news since that's what general managers do all the time. I think because media members actually hear so little of what is discussed, there are few rumors out there. I've often had general managers ask me to sit on some talk because it might cost a deal, which has happened. When word leaked out of the Bulls-Sonics Kemp-Pippen deal in 1994, the Sonics backed out because of negative fan reaction on talk radio. I know of one general manager who I'm told talked with 25 teams in the last week. Will he make 25 trades? Of course not. What these guys generally do is play fantasy league with their players and hope someone is desperate. So you can be sure every player on the Bulls but Rose has been mentioned in trade talk, and every one but Jordan was mentioned in the 1990's. Gordon is probably the most difficult to trade because the Bulls need his approval and Deng because of his base year status. If I were anyone else on the team, I would be renting. My guess is two players are traded this season, though I cannot figure out yet which two. And that doesn't count Hunter and Simmons.

Interesting stuff from Sam. Two deals would mean a major shake-up. I like the thought of it.

Rumor: Bulls/Blazers trade in works?

If Pax can pull this off, then I think it's time that we stop bashing him.

This would:

a) Allow the Bulls to show they want BG back and are serious this time
b) Give us another expiring contract to combine with Gooden's which would give us $18 mil coming off the books between them two alone
c)If we fail with Gordon, we could make a run at Boozer this offseason...or maybe both? Cap geeks, I want to hear from you!

Basically, I think this move is too good to be true but let's pray it happens.

B-Diddy and Nash make hilarious movie trailer

Everyone must watch this. It's simply unreal...words cannot describe what is going on.

I also can't help but think toward the Bulls. Why exactly is it a problem to just fucking play Tyrus Thomas, and figure out a way to have Deng and Gooden pick up the slack he creates? Wasn't one of the fonding principles of Phoenix that Marion would cover everyone's ass? Not as glamorous as an offense that boggles the mind, but without those contingencies, that team would never have had a chance when it came to defense or rebounding.

FreeDarko tidbit on Tyrus/Bulls

I realize FreeDarko is a blog you either love or hate, but I thought I'd point out this tidbit from Shoals' latest post. The guys at FD really do love Tyrus as much as we do (who thought that was even possible? Heh).

Rose missing Friday's game, likely to get MRI this weekend

[From the FanShots. I'm not too concerned, but I'm usually not until it's far too late. -ed.]

Yes, yes, I know..."it's not serious."

Really, though, if his knee turns out to be a wreck in the next few years, how bad does this make Pax look? I hope he's right when he says it's nothing to worry about...but I'm not going to lie, this lingering issue has me a bit worried over here :\

Bulls officially hire Bickerstaff and Ociepka

[From the FanShots. I don't know much about these guys' assistant coach credentials besides 'not being Bob Hill' -ed.]

"Bernie Bickerstaff and Bob Ociepka have agreed to terms to be assistant coaches on Vinny Del Negro's first staff, sources said.

Negotiations with Del Harris hit some snags but are ongoing, meaning neither side would be surprised if talks concluded successfully or broke off.

Bob Hill is no longer under consideration, sources said, and Paul Westphal's status is unclear. Hill, Westphal, Harris and Bickerstaff all are veteran head coaches who were sought to assist Del Negro's transition."

Pax speaks on pick

[From the FanShots. There's accompanying video here. -ed.]

No reveal (obviously), but seems to be leaning towards Rose.

From the quotes, it's apparent that Pax is extremely high on both guys. This is certainly in line with Sam Smith's rumor that they are trying to acquire the #2 pick as well. Sounds to me, though, like he's thinking Rose. See for yourself...

Great read on Thibodeau - Please give him an interview, Pax.

So, where's the Thibodeau hype gone lately? Is there a valid reason why Pax can't wait a little longer to at least get this guy an interview?

Here's a very good  read on him, mentioning how he used to work with Kobe before he got to the league.

Bryant's relationship with Thibodeau goes back to the early 1990s, when Bryant was a teenage prodigy and Thibodeau was on John Lucas' staff with the Philadelphia 76ers. During the off-season, Bryant would train with the Sixers and he grew close to Thibodeau, who put in the extra time to work with a high school phenom.

"He has an unfair advantage," Bryant said. "He started drilling me, NBA basketball drills, when I was 14. So he kind of has inside information on what I like to do because he taught me most of the stuff."

The part that stuck out to me the most, though, was the following:

A native of New Britain, Conn., Thibodeau has a reputation for being a tireless worker who pores over hours and hours of game film. Although he is regarded as a defensive specialist - a recent headline in The Boston Globe called him a "mastermind" - Thibodeau has a history of improving the offensive games of several prominent players.

With the Knicks, Thibodeau worked with Larry Johnson, Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell. In Houston, Thibodeau formed such a close bond with Yao Ming that the All-Star center brought him to China for workouts over the summer.
