Open Game Thread #55: Bulls at Houston Rockets
Lets see if the Bulls are still in the post-trade honeymoon phase, on the road and against a team that's won 11 in a row.
Boylan has said that Gooden and Hughes will not start tonight, and I'm guessing that Nocioni will continue to start ahead of Deng, who still hasn't looked 'back'. I'm just glad that I successfully learned not to listen to Boylan anymore, just post-whine when the rotations don't make sense. It'll be real interesting to see how (and how often) the new guys are brought off the bench.
ESPN is televising the game tonight, and the afternoon previews said "the new look" Bulls. Heh.

bleak but glimmering hope...
Incidentally, here's a link to one of the worst / least informed game previews of all time.
against a team that's won 11 in a row
I believe Yao will be saying "OH!" and the Bulls are will take it to 3 in a row and snap Houston's win streak.
Yo.
I'd like to see them put together
Oh...oooops....
Musta been dreaming...
Oh Lord
Wallace after 1 quarter
And the announcers still hype him up as if he's the difference maker.
LOL
So glad he's someone else's problem now
It's the same old story
"He's got a great stroke to his shot. Maybe he'll start shooting 75% from there"
EXACT same situation
you never know

Right
Maybe you're right.
I don't think
Since they haven't won
It will be interesting to see how the newbies fit in tonight.
Today
HERE WE GO
So excited, I just ran 3 miles before the game to help me get pumped.
Now I can't get calm.
Bad idea
Gooden just posted Scola up!
energy?
Don't tell me Hughes can't play.

So far . .
Option27 likes to jump the gun
Turned on late
Hmmm...
Hey, you know some statistics, right?
I know some stuff.
Seriously, I'm always happy to help out a fellow Bab'er if I can.
Figured it out
Ohh. You showed us the Lenovo site

Nah, I just like stats stuff
I just found that site and wanted to share it with everyone else, too. It's fun though, huh?

So far Hughes looks good
ehh.....no so much.
Rather see TT in there.
TT got two quick fouls

Hughes
by Orlando Woolridge on Feb 24, 2008 7:43 PM CST up reply actions
I'm happy with either of them starting
Boylan handling the guard logjam
Wallace 12-10 DD today for Cleveland
What a bum.
He actually played horrible
Most of those rebounds weren't even fought for and all 5 FG's were easy dunks from nice passes
I was watching
Everything about Wallace
Bottom line is it's great that he's gone.
every play so far

Noah with the steal!
It's true it's only game 2 of the honeymoon
Maybe that "vote" on Noah did more harm than was let on...?
Guys are still feeling it out
Staying close in
Noah's steal and dunk was awesome!!!!!
There are suddenly a bunch of combos I'd
Here's to hoping Boylan manages to explore the different possibilities in a non-Du-ish manner!
Does it not look like BG doesn't
by hhi on Feb 24, 2008 8:18 PM CST reply actions
He had to play PG pretty much the whole time
These last two games have been close
One thing the Bulls are gonna have to address
JR the other night....T-Mac tonight...
you know whats funny
If Noah doesn't start, who would?
Gray would match up a little better
Not sure about his footwork though.
finally caught up (thanks tivo)
Hughes and Gooden looked real good; their plus minus was +5 i beleive
What was the bet with deshaun stevenson? Fucking stevenson
Deng looks good tonight, but he looks heavy
Has anyone ever been to the Toyota Center; looks like a pretty depressing arena
Another good game
Yep, and maybe now
Hughes and Gordon looks like a poor man's version of Hughes-Arenas three seasons ago.

by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 8:40 PM CST up reply actions
I thought I heard
He played PG some in HS,
That is true
how much faith does boylan have in ben?
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 8:43 PM CST reply actions
i like Gray
Not too impressed with Deng tonight
down by 9 into the 4th
for the record
Anyone remember the last game vs HOU?
Man - Hughes can RUN!!!
Gooden and Hughes do alot of stupid things.
I'm afraid
b) Boylan will find another excuse, or not need an excuse to play them over TT and Thabo.
c) BaBers will make one or the other their new whipping boy.
need to get

by fundamentallysound on Feb 24, 2008 9:01 PM CST reply actions
interesting. boylan gives up on BG
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:02 PM CST reply actions
He's 1-8 for the game, 2 pts.
BG is bringin' up the rear
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:03 PM CST reply actions
oh, yeah. forgot about him
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:06 PM CST reply actions
I do not like that Hughes and Gooden
They haven't "earned" their time yet...
I think Gooden's getting some extra
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:10 PM CST up reply actions
Tyrus sat way too long
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:09 PM CST reply actions
BG can't handle it well enough to create
by hhi on Feb 24, 2008 9:09 PM CST reply actions
Yep.
And it would suck just as much.
Tyrus has got to keep starting
by Freethefro on Feb 24, 2008 9:29 PM CST up reply actions
so frustrating
the lack of PT in the heart of the 2d half for Thabo and TT was rough
by Orlando Woolridge on Feb 24, 2008 9:15 PM CST reply actions
wow
by fundamentallysound on Feb 24, 2008 9:16 PM CST reply actions
WAY too many three's being hit
This got away really quickly
Shit the Bulls defense is atrocious
at some point it stops
by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:23 PM CST up reply actions
Kind of
What was it Melo said about the Bulls Friday?
Still, tough game to integrate new guys without a single practice, against the hottest team in the NBA right now.
Ty is looking damn smooth lately, too!
best part of his improvement
you're right

Perimeter defense failure
I hope tomorrow isn't more of the same against their old nemesis Kidd.
Houston outscored the bulls in every quarter
How do you find the +/- ?

by eGirl on Feb 24, 2008 9:40 PM CST up reply actions
we've been horrible
that singlehandedly killed us. we played decently tonight.
all in all i'm pretty pleased with what i saw from the 2 new guys. can't wait till they actually learn our sets. :)
I agree
by Freethefro on Feb 24, 2008 9:48 PM CST up reply actions
Nothing really
They gave up
The offense was scoring 99 points under Skiles and it has been 106.8 points under Boylan.
Noah was neutralized tonight
by Freethefro on Feb 24, 2008 9:46 PM CST reply actions
Nothing about his ankle on post game show
Good indication he's not hurt bad and hopefully plays tomorrow.
I missed Boylan

Am I the only one
We're Better Off
PG - Hinrich, Hughes
SG - Thabo, Gordon
SF - TT, Deng
PF - Gooden, Noc
C - Noah, Gray
I think TT is suited more at the 3, at least until Deng fully recovers.
