Have a kick ass
game tonight Noah!! Hope we have something to celebrate after the game.

Amen to that Sue.
I'm so glad that the corpse and A drain are gone -
And it translating into more Noah playing time...

Watch out - I might drop the negative routine and go back to my happy self...

I did say MIGHT though...     :-)

post-game track back...
14 points, 10 boards, high FG %.  Good thing you told him :)

Needs to get to the line a bit ... but he looked really good.  Tyrus too.

I just had
a feeling that he would come out fired up tonight. Nice to see TT kick some ass too.

About to show people exactly why we traded the Corpse!

That would really suck
I remember when the last Bulls televised game was cancelled for the Celtics/Pistons game, they didn't show the game at all

That would blow completely

Good vibe in here tonight
They already have the scoreboard graphics in place for Hughes and Gooden.

Deng and Luol are playing an impromptu game of soccer at halfcourt. TT and Noah goofing off.

I hope Tyrus starts and not Noc.

Also, all of the suites at the visitor's end of the court are torn out. Anyone know what's going on?

Let's win tonight.

Suites
Are torn out to make room for a giant suite in which fans can buy individual tickets.  Kinda like the Legends Lounge but you dont have to reserve the whole thing.

I asked during a recent lockerroom tour.

think I'm gonna have to watch the darn
Clevland game on ESPN.  I have a bad feeling BW is gonna play well and with passion.  But I also think Noah's gonna do well - so who cares!

I think
they're playing without their new guys too. Heard something on the tv in the background about the Cavs only have 8 guys dressing tonight and 2 are from the D-League.

Can only think of one call to go our way: when they (Deng?) put it up to beat the :24. It sounded like the buzzer went off before it hit the rim, and Bulls got the 2nd chance reb. But that could've been a case of out-of-sync sound too.

You read my mind!
Huge number of posts to get rid of BW, play TT.  Finally we see it happen and lo and behold - good basketball.  This is what I was hoping to see when the season began.  Let's hope it continues.

by chgobr on Feb 22, 2008 8:24 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Most enjoyable game of year so far.
Especially, knowing Ben Worthless will not step onto floor.  Sweet interior passing to end half.  Finally, we are seeing Noah and Thomas together more.  I don't know how many entries I've read bitching for that to happen.

by BiNgO on Feb 22, 2008 8:20 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

OH MAN.
Well. We trade Ben Wallace, are forced to play TT major minutes, and somehow like magic we rock the house.
That was a seriously awesome half to watch, though there were a bunch of groaner moments [BG, don't randomly get the ball stolen from you. You made up for it with the 3 next time down though.].
This could be the TT breakout game we've all been waiting for. He's playing like a man possessed. Even on the poster he made them work for it.
Noah ... Noah needs to bulk up, badly, and then he will be amazing. Hasn't played as well as I'd hope tonight though.
Also: It is confirmed, Ben Gordon is the best spot-up shooter ever, but has no other skills. Though he has been driving to the hoop and not falling down, tonight. Maybe he decided trying to draw fouls isn't as important as actually scoring.
Also: you know how the announcers on CSN used to go 'Oh no!' every time they watch TT shoot? I'm starting to do that with Noce. He scares me [yes, even though he's been playing pretty good].

by Prevenge on Feb 22, 2008 8:21 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Also would like to point out
After "The trade", everyone in the NBA will stop second guessing Paxson's draft picks of Tyrus, Thabo and Joakim.

The praise will continue to fall on Pax soon enough.

Also, this is really going to elevate the youngsters trade value if another star happens to be available

by Option27 on Feb 22, 2008 8:22 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Well, lets calm down here
It's one game after the trade, and we still have no idea how many minutes Hughes/Gooden are going to eat up. That, and, Thomas has underperformed last year, while others from the same draft have done a little better from their first year

Regardless, very exciting half.

Very exciting
game so far. TT and Noah are both playing well. Enjoyed all the Aaron Gray chatter by the Denver announcers. Some funny stuff.

Please no dreaded 3rd quarter lull.

Tyrus 12 and 5, Noah 8 and 7
THIS is the frontline of the future.

Keep Gooden off the team so Boylan can't screw it up.

I love watching those two guys play. Their enthusiasm and athleticism make the experience worthwhile.

Win or lose, the Bulls will only go as far as those two take them. They are the missing piece. They need to develop as much as possible this season.

The perimeter defense on Smith has been awful.

I really have dislike for:
Gangstas 'Melo, A.I., thug-Mart and JR.

Hyped, way-over-CAP collection of non-defenders (funny how it never gets talked about; this is the worst defensive team in the NBA, with the best single defender in Camby.

And George Scarl. From way back with Seattle. He's really not so despicable now.

Still, I think 1958 hates the Jazz 10x more....

Ja

Simmons said it in is column ... every rule change in the last few years has been towards teams that can score around the hoop.  Especially QUICKLY into the shot-clock.

Even as recently as 8-10 years ago, it as OK o have a guy who could take the ball in the post and sloooowwww down the offense.  But you really don't want to do that these days.

he takes so many jumpshots out of the rhythm of the offense.  And he dribbles the ball SO much in the halfcourt -- he saved us just now, but he also contributed to this game being as close as it was, HE was the one guarding JR Smith all this time.

your gordon hate blinds you
I'm sure we would've gotten those points though the norman dale offense too...

Also interesting to note that J.R. Smith was on the court every minute Gordon was, which couldn't have helped the ol' +/-. Yes, I know Gordon's defense was the reason Smith was hitting 30 footers :)

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Feb 23, 2008 11:00 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Were you watching JR's 3's?
I'm sorry, but it's not BG's fault, he's been guarding him, but JR was just sticking them no matter who was on him [ex. Thabo], until the brick and airball at the very end. 30 foot fadeaway swish ... yeeeah ... he was going totally nuts.

by Prevenge on Feb 22, 2008 9:35 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Feb 22, 2008 9:38 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't know about all this +/- stuff,
but it seemed to me that Boylan saw that JR was on fire, and then when BG showed he was just as hot, Boylan had him in there mostly just to offset JR's offense, which BG did quite well, thank you.  JR had the best game of his life and Ben was only a -6 against him?  Sounds OK by me.

They were after all +19, 21, 23, 25, 27...

BG -1 and Deng -24.

We won this game in spite of BG and Deng, not because of them.

Winning basketball
depends on defense, rebounding and ball movement.

BG doesn't contribute in any of these areas.

This fact is clearly shown in the on-court/off-court numbers. No, not just for this game.

You wanting to start BG and Deng when it is so obvious the starters were the reason we won tonight is rather peculiar to me. We were up by 18 when BG came in in the third. I rightly predicted that Denver would close the gap, which they did. To four points I believe before the "coach" put most of the starters back in. to save BG's ass.

He is really not needed on this team.

I wonder sometimes what basketball background some people have. The teams that I've been on that were the most successful featured a highly motivated team-oriented group of average height that focused almost all of their attention on defense. Anybody can make a lay-up. Or should be able to... (sorry, BW...) Our best year we won by an average of 40 points. (Good times! :D )
With me you have to play defense first. Because I've seen what you can do when all the players have that attitude.

You have another basketball philosophy? Fine, that's on you.

Thomas
Was a defensive anchor for the bulls, he started off missing a few more assignments, but him and noah HAD to be in the game, MORE SO Noah, he is a fucking beast on defense, and the two have more hustle then....DAMN...you know gooden and hughes have got to be liking what they saw, a five man game, with talent galore, they can play the way they want, we might be able to actually bounce in the playoffs man, that is if we play like this. Thomas man, those jumpers, and noah, just doing the little things, bg showed he aint a pg, but damn he went blow for blow with jr smith tonight, and hinrich, that kansas connection is already starting to work, noch even was tolerable making some good shots and passes. And thabo, his defense and hustle and knocking down those midrange shots!!!!! MAN im extremely happy right now, by the way...DUHON SUCKS!!!!!!!

Good game...
...I'm dying to see what Gooden in partucular can do, I haven't seen much of him. It's a toss up between him and TT for the starting spot. The others (Hinrich, Thabo,Noah and Lu) should be pretty set at their positions, hopefully Noc doesn't get to start.

On JR late in the fourth when Gordon turned over the inbound pass?

I love Tyrus and Noah. They are the best part of the game. By far.

I know in my heart Boylan will fuck this up when Gooden and Hughes arrive. I know it.

Keep Gooden and Hughes on the bench.

It's THIS SIMPLE. Play Noah, Tyrus, Deng, Hinrich, and Gordon. Mix in Thabo and Noc.

But Boylan will overanalyze it.

I hate Walton so much
He's always brown-nosing Shaq's ass, and only has opinions about the top 10 most popular(not best) players of the league.

I get so heated about ESPN. They have been a joke for years ever since Disney bought it. They pretty much own a monopoly of sports news, yet they take a fat shit on it by not even showing sports. Fuck ESPN

ESPN is soooooooo dumbed down!
Amare had one of his better games ever (37 & 15) vs. Lakers, and you wouldn't have known it. All they could "report" about was Kobe's 41 and the ShaqDiesel!

Walton bothers so many though, like my Dad who was a big fan of his in the playing days, but can't stand him now. To me, he's comedy. He just slammed Shaq less than a week ago on his injury history (a true pot and kettle scenario), and now he's doing a 180.

I just think of him as a casualty of the sixties. He's a 7 foot acid flashback!

Noah and TT can be our future foundation
of a winning team.  They are long, make big plays and have the ability to ignite this team.  Curry last night plays 9:29 has 4 point 2 TOs and 0 rbds.   Curry for TT and Noah - what a deal.

It is amazing how much better we can be without BW hogging minutes , slowing the game and stifling our offense.  Both Noah and TT out-rebounded his average last night.  I hope this lasts.  Two tough games coming up.

They are only going to get better
Their bodies are going to change the more minutes they play and as the next couple years pass... They both will most likely beef up a little which will only help them in the post.  I was loving how Noah was using his should last night to clear out..  Add more muscle and he will be even more effective.

Of course it was too good to be true...
Boylan sounded slightly more definitive about Drew Gooden starting, although he, too, will be in competition with Tyrus Thomas at power forward.

"He's an experienced guy, and we're a little thin up there," Boylan said.

Boylan had
nothing but great things to say about Tyrus in his post game interview and it wasn't just his shooting he was praising either. That was very nice to hear. It has to give Tyrus confidence going into tomorrow nights game.

I thought Kirk did an excellent job running the team last night. When Lu got his technical Kirk went right over to talk to the ref. When Denver was shooting the technical foul Kirk was giving TT instructions. Nice to see and I hope it continues.

Anyone else think Luol worked on his upper body while he was off? I thought his arms, shoulders and neck looked huge. His arms were not anything like BW's but they looked bigger than they use to to me.

I hope last night was not a one time event. If they play like this the rest of the month I will have hope.

Uh, Sue--there was also a game
going on last night to look at. :)

Lu looked to like he might still have been carrying some of those weights around with him on the court.  Other than Gray, and without having seen Gooden yet, it looks like he's now the slowest guy on the team.  Lu better find his jump shot--and quick--or I might start liking Nocioni in his spot.
