Open Game Thread #52: Bulls vs. Miami Heat

I received some unfortunate news this morning: I have tickets to this game.

At least Ben Wallace isn't playing.

Early start, 7pm CST, to accommodate those foolish TNT executives.

Surprised TNT
Didn't can this game for a L&O rerun

It would probably be better for ratings.

by mruntouchable on Feb 14, 2008 5:14 PM CST reply actions

espn canned an upcoming
bulls game.  Don't remember which one.  I think it's harder for TNT to do, they're aren't as many games on.

by KT on Feb 14, 2008 5:50 PM CST up reply actions

I think
It was Bulls/Wizards

We're lucky that the rest of the world gets to see how the Bulls look WITHOUT Corpse.

I think this is a great time for the Bulls to be seen

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:14 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls win this game BIG.
Just BECAUSE Wallace won't be there.
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 7:23 PM CST up reply actions

On top of sucking, Bulls have had some bad luck
this season as well.  Catching Minnesota on its big winning stretch, and now getting Miami when it's playing better with Marion.  Hopefully they'll play all 4 quarters tonight.

And Matt, I'm really sorry for your misfortune.  Hopefully things will be looking up soon.  ;)

Maybe I'll take up hockey.

Woah
Those jersey's threw me off

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:18 PM CST reply actions

TT
for someone who can jump that high he seems to get blocked a lot.

by Sambossanova on Feb 14, 2008 7:21 PM CST reply actions

rough start
but good results.  more dunks in the first five minutes than in most games.
Goodbye Viktor, and Godspeed.

by bullshooter on Feb 14, 2008 7:21 PM CST reply actions

Wow!
We look like one of those teams we play against.

by BoxingHideout on Feb 14, 2008 7:21 PM CST reply actions

And Ty does get the start
I still wonder how Boylan can possibly jump around so much on this kid - barely playing to starting is wild.  But still good that Ty's playing!
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 7:22 PM CST reply actions

guess
how long will tyrus be in for?

by Sambossanova on Feb 14, 2008 7:23 PM CST reply actions

Tyrus
I dont understand how everyone thinks TT is ready to start and play 40 minutes when he messes up like 30 times in 4 minutes.

This isnt the first time either...I like him but whats wrong with him.

by Sambossanova on Feb 14, 2008 7:25 PM CST reply actions

He's dumb
But it's not like that can't be fixed.

If he got regular playing time, he'd be fine.

Look at Thabo

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:26 PM CST up reply actions

Decent energy to start
But they're not playing all that smart.  I wish Noc would have as much aggressiveness on defense as he has for offense.

by paxson43 on Feb 14, 2008 7:25 PM CST reply actions

TT was trying to do too much
but once he got a little winded, he settled down.
Goodbye Viktor, and Godspeed.

by bullshooter on Feb 14, 2008 7:28 PM CST reply actions

Starting to settle down
A little nervous energy to start, but they'll be alright.

You can almost "feel" the youngin's excitement in just knowing that they get all of Wallace's minutes tonight and don't have to worry about stupid things....like....being great in the first half, then being benched for the entire second half....

Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 7:30 PM CST reply actions

Kirk in . .
for Thabo?!

Excuse me while I throw up

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:32 PM CST reply actions

Agreed.
'nuff said.
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 7:40 PM CST up reply actions

Dwayne Wade
has been playing with some sort of injury since Marquette.

by RogersPark Kris on Feb 14, 2008 7:34 PM CST reply actions

he's 3-3
you'd think they'd be up more if he were the weakest link.
Goodbye Viktor, and Godspeed.

by bullshooter on Feb 14, 2008 7:43 PM CST up reply actions

Just once this year while we still have chance
I wanna see Thabo on the floor with Tyrus and Joakim

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:43 PM CST reply actions

I wonder
If Kirk has "earned" his spot yet

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:49 PM CST reply actions

Or "proving" he's best off the bench?
Who knows what anything means around here anymore?
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 7:53 PM CST up reply actions

Ha
Good point!

This HAS to mean he's best suited as a 6th man!

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

Pretty soon we'll read some Boylan quote
about Kirk and BG having to compete for the 6th man spot.
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 8:00 PM CST up reply actions

Why is Noah "missing" tonight?
Is he in foul trouble?
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 8:40 PM CST reply actions

seems like it! :-)
zzzzzzzzzzzz
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 8:41 PM CST up reply actions

Nah, I'm still watching the game
and enjoying the usual 3rd quarter lull.  Doesn't seem to be many people around tonight, but I assume that's a Valentine's Day thing.
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 8:46 PM CST up reply actions

I assume that's a Valentine's Day thing
yeah....as in tired of getting their HEARTS broken by the Bulls....sigh

If we lose this, I quit.

switched over to LOST if it was on here on Pacific time

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 8:44 PM CST reply actions

How was that an OFFENSIVE foul
on TT?

Goaltending is more like it...I replayed it on tivo and couldn't see anything wrong by TT...

Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Shawn is great, and Wade
greater, but c'mon Bulls! Gotta get this team!

P.S.: What's "Lost"? ;)

by marionette on Feb 14, 2008 8:47 PM CST reply actions

Kirk's hot shooting night is sure fun,
but the lack of assists is killing my fantasy team.

(Don't tell Matt I used the f-word...)

Maybe I'll take up hockey.

heh
don't worry, all's fair in an open thread.

I made this my Valentines date.
We better at least win.

Or I will pay.

Czar repeated the Boylan quote
about Hinrich earning it back. How embarrassing.

by marionette on Feb 14, 2008 8:55 PM CST reply actions

Where is NOAH??!
Just when you think he's GOTTA play because Wallace is out, he's missing.

Geesh.

Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 8:58 PM CST reply actions

Noah's back
And so am I from Lost.  This season has been terrific so far.

by paxson43 on Feb 14, 2008 9:06 PM CST reply actions

At least someone
is having a terrific season.  :)

by cranscape on Feb 14, 2008 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

Tyrus, don't
try posting up my guy anymore. You need to drive on him or (best bet) give it up.

by marionette on Feb 14, 2008 9:09 PM CST reply actions

That's gonna hurt the Noah FG%
At least he's back in, hopefully to stay.

fire paxson now
a fraud exposed

by fireskiles on Feb 14, 2008 9:22 PM CST reply actions

Think Joe said something to Kirk
about maybe passing the ball?
Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 9:26 PM CST reply actions

This is too close for comfort.
At least Marcus Banks is showing the same deficiencies he did as a Sun, that's helping.

by marionette on Feb 14, 2008 9:28 PM CST reply actions

TT with 4 blocks
Wonder if Wall-ass is watching tonight
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 9:32 PM CST reply actions

This is so lame
To be this close at home against the worst team in basketball

by Option27 on Feb 14, 2008 9:32 PM CST reply actions

But it's really not the same team
Marion would be an upgrade on Shaq just by playing, and it they've been playing well against good teams since the trade.

I think the guys are doing alright tonight.

Maybe I'll take up hockey.

by wjb1492 on Feb 14, 2008 9:36 PM CST up reply actions

Especially
when we KNOW that it could and SHOULD be much different....

Kirk is smiling
Maybe he earned his starting spot back.  What say you, Mad Dog Boylan!?

by paxson43 on Feb 14, 2008 9:36 PM CST reply actions

I don't know...
that was a monster 3 point effort from Duhon.

by RogersPark Kris on Feb 14, 2008 9:44 PM CST up reply actions

BM's all around?
Is it spring training yet?

by Bluelou on Feb 14, 2008 9:38 PM CST reply actions

mmmmmm
maybe not.
So what then...boos all around because the Bulls once again deny the fans of free food?

A big BOOOOOO to all the stupid
fans. Are these the same moron Cubs fans that didn't care about a loss, as long as they got to see a Sosa homer? IDIOTS!

Doesn't start the next game, I'm boycotting

call me a blind optimist...
but thats a pretty good win to end a dismal 1st half with.  the heat have looked pretty good since the marion deal, and they shot 46% tonight (47 from deep) with 10 threes.  beating them without your two best players is a pretty decent win.  now lets get healthy, get a new coach, and kidnap wallace

by Mike C on Feb 14, 2008 10:00 PM CST reply actions

Things like that can happen...
...when you make sure to play your third and fourth and fifth best players.
Let us prepare for glory! --Michael Redd

Silly String had 12 boards again
and was +12 with 17 pts. Tyrus with 12 boards too, with 4 blks and 10 pts in 38 min.

So there.

by marionette on Feb 14, 2008 10:10 PM CST reply actions

No Griff tonight either
Let's give it up for that head coaching decision.
Goodbye Viktor, and Godspeed.

by bullshooter on Feb 14, 2008 10:10 PM CST reply actions

I must admit they looked pretty energized
did play a Heat team that was playing well and didn't have their two best players.  It is good to win!
