Malik Allen to Nets

Link.

I find it somewhat surprising that all Malik could get was a non-guaranteed contract. I was going to make a joke about such a player getting so many meaningful minutes on the Bulls, but I hadn't realized that he barely played in the playoffs. (caution: some of those game logs may upset some readers)

Anyway, consider this your Malik Allen appreciation thread.

::shakes head::
this is such disrespect towards Malik's 2 years as a  Bull. For shame...

Well,
while I couldn't say I'm upset about it with a straight face, I do wish him well.  As with some of the other guys that we gripe about on here, it wasn't his call that he played more than I cared for, and I do think he did his best while out there and provided the occasional important basket.  I hope things work out better for him in NJ, except when they play the Bulls.

Is that appreciative enough?

Farewell, Malik
Okay, last year he was not so terrific, but the year before I thought he was solid.  If I'm not mistaken, Hollinger even predicted that he would have a breakout year last season (no I am not looking for a link).  Now of course a Malik Allen breakout year must be viewed in context (he was not going to turn into KG or anything) but he was good enough 2 years ago to raise some eyebrows and create some hope for the future.

My memories of Malik will always be of him hitting that 12-15 footer, kind of like Othella.

Thank you for playing, Malik.  I'm sorry you won't be around to win a ring with this team, but that's the nature of the NBA.  Best wishes for you and your family.

Score. Or do not score. There is no clutch.

I honestly can't think of a team where
Malik should feel more at home.  Malik's inability to rebound will fit right in with Krstic and the rest of Nets bigs.  And he'll probaby get his fair share of Mikki Moore jumpshots.

I liked Malik
when he was here. I thought he always did his best and it had to be pretty scary for him when he had that episode with his heart. I wish him and his family the best.
