Thanks to the nifty news feed on the left sidebar, I was made aware of a job promotion within the Bulls organization:

The Chicago Bulls announced today the promotion of Matt Lloyd to Director of College Scouting.

"This promotion is a natural progression for Matt, who has been instrumental in formulating our extensive college scouting database," said Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson.

Really, how hard could it be to create a set of college players for Pax to scout?

select player.last_name, player.first_name
from player
where player.school_name in
    (
    select school.school_name
    from school
    where (school.tournament_finish < 5)
    or school.school_name in
("Duke", "Kansas", "Connecticut", "Kentucky", "North Carolina")
    );
Next step: cracking the formula that calculates 'grit index' for each player.

It's cute, not nerdy!
I read the PR announcement at the Bulls site.  You left out the statistical analysis part of Matt's old job.  I'd love to know how the Bulls use stats, and what they think of Hollinger, and all the other stat practicioners out in basketball fandom.

And if that Matt's not doing the statistical analysis stuff anymore, maybe there's an opening for someone else to step into the void?  Anyone sending in resumes?

All right, you little bastard.
Just because you run this here blog, doesn't give you the right to replace the hot shot college snob as reigning King of Snark. Knock it off already!

You know it's a slow day on Blog-a-Bull...
... when Matt starts posting in SQL. Nice and crucial addition, Rodmaniac!

true, sorry about that
hopefully it doesn't discourage you from further reports. reading (and then watching) Thabo's self-assist was worth the while.

If it makes you feel better, some people noticed.
