Summer of Luol

ESPN has a pretty long article on the summer of our beloved Luol Deng.

It's pretty much a diary of his that he's kept throughout his international summer play.

It starts in Bradenton, Fl

Then goes to

London, Paris and Pau

Back to London

Birmingham, England and Mons, Belgium

Mons, Belgium; Almere, Holland; and Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh, Scotland; Minsk, Belarus; London; and Sheffield, England

Sheffield and Geneva, Switzerland

Then all the way back to Chicago.

Talk about a busy Summer.

Actually I doubt it
I hear all this talk about how all these international games would cause our Bulls to come into the season fatigued and stamina-dead. Actually, I was watching the other love of my life, Manchester United, and it seemed to me that some of the players that took part in the pre-season tourneys seem a lot more fresh and "match-fit" than those who don't.

Crash course here. There are no training camps in the English Premiership, or if there are, they are initiated by clubs at their own time. Instead clubs play pre-season tourneys against other teams. Some of these tourneys end up as PR but that's another story. Anyhow, there is no specific window to see when players get in. You have all summer and the beginning of the season to buy players and there are no drafts. So you can have one player in the club in late July and take part in the pre-season and you can have another player coming in September when the season is already in full swing.

One of the Man Utd players, Luis Nani, seemed to have reach his optimum level quite early as compared to the other new recruits. This was attributed to his being part of the pre-season. IF Man Utd has a good season, it means a total of about 90 games in 9 months and players don't usually tire by the end of the season.

Point is, I'm not that worried about Luol and Thabo, and to some small extent Khryapa. In fact, Deng would probably set the pace early on.

What I am worried about is Noc's bloody foot and Noah's shoulder.

Next Level
I really believe this experience will help Luol take the next step as a player.  He even said himself that he'd never had to be the main guy before.  In high school he played with Charlie Villanueva.  At Duke there was J.J. Reddick and, to a lesser extent, Chris Duhon.  It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him represent the Bulls on the All-Start team this year.
