Hinrich not Playing for Team USA

[From the Diaries. Bad for Kirk, but good (or at least 'not bad') for the Bulls. I'm curious as to how much of the 'withdrawl' is seeing the writing on the wall, or if Kirk actually has more pressing matters to attend to this summer. Update: AP reports that it was 'personal reasons'. -Matt]

Chris Sheridian reports:

On Monday afternoon, Team USA announced that Shane Battier and Kirk Hinrich have withdrawn from training camp and consideration for a spot on the Tournament of Americas roster. It was also announced that Nick Collison was added to the senior national team program. Well that is good new for us Bulls fan who were worried that Hinrich would be tired if he had to play this summer.

This is great news
No more excuses now!

Now if Noah can stop talking about playing for France

Just Opinions

This year, it's a little late for Noah to do it
Since the teams are already playing.  Thabo is playing in the same pre-olympic team tournament France's team is in.

it sounds like he wanted to do it this summer
link. You'll want to use Babel Fish on that one, google translate didn't work. Contrary to prior reports Noah isn't officially a French citizen yet, and is disappointed he can't play for France.

Nowhere
in the article does he say he wanted to do it (play for France) this summer already !
The Game chose him !

not directly, no
he does express a desire to play for France, and the players on the current roster.

sweet apathy
What a relief it is to slash this one off the tv calender.

right on

My sentiments exactly.

Team USA - best of luck, I guess ... not that I really care anymore.

so...
nobody else on the team interests you?  I like Kirk too, but I still care...I'll still watch the games when I can.

Not really
I hope team USA plays a lot of overtime, hotly contested games that they win in the end, but not before using the entire bench for 20+ min each...

Did he withdraw because he
he was told (or independently recognized) that he had no chance of making the team? Perhaps he wanted to save face by quitting instead of being cut.

Or is this an injury/fatigue issue?

::shrug::
I speculated as much above. I don't know.

update
I added this to the post above, but the reports say undisclosed 'personal reasons'.

My Man Sam jokes that it wasn't due to his dissapointment in Kobe Bryant throwing his Laker teammates under the bus. And then Hoopshype 'reports' that line without context. How long until a sports blog picks it up? :)

And this
artcile says it's because of a family situation. We may never know why.

Or
maybe he just wants to spend time with his new wife. I'm not really disappointed because I think he did get worn down during this past season. This is good news for the Bulls. I hope he is working on getting his body built up for the upcoming season.

I'd agree
If he doesn't spend time with his new wife over the summer, when will he?  It's probably tough during the season....

I'm also glad.
I thought Hinrich looked tired at times last year.  This should help keep him fresh.

sure seems like it
Replying to my own comment aside, video evidence of Sefolosha practicing his jumper has been requested. Well, Tyrus Thomas practicing anyway.

For those who
can't wait for the regular season to start here are the preseason games. Last year most of them were televised.

the La Crosse game
is in my old childhood home. But I can't get over there that day.  I'm so annoyed.
