I am excited to see how the summer league team does. I just wish Joakim was able to play.

Here is a roster and bios of the Bulls players.

He didn't shoot well, but he got to the line at
will because of his unique combination of size and quickeness. And, of course, he hit the game winner.

But he'll have to better than 3-11 from the field in the real NBA.

Hey Sue,
I'm clicking on the first link you posted, but there is no info about the Bulls on it. Just Vegas stuff. Any ideas where i could find the Orlando stuff? :) thanks!

The Orlando Magic do the web casting
So check out http://www.nba.com/magic/news/07summerleague.html later today.    They had announcers last year who work for the Magic - they knew Skiles from his days in Orlando.  They ripped on him constantly during the Bulls cames - very, very funny.  I hope they're back, they were way more interesting than the games.

And last year we got to see Skiles in shorts and flipflops.

And excuse me for answering for Sue. :)

is there any chance we'll actually be able to watch these games on webcast?  Every time I try to watch it says "blacked out in your area."

Yeah
Sadly not on NBA TV...just online

Like the others have said,
anything not on NBA TV can be watched online.  So all of the Orlando summer league games can be watched on the Magic site.  The NBA has to protect it's NBATV investment so any area that can get NBATV gets the games blacked out.  Has anyone tried to watch archived games that were blacked out?  I thought maybe the blackout would lift once they air on NBATV.

it's a Mac issue. If it's a new Intel mac, you can get around it by getting BootCamp or Parallels and installing a Windows OS on the machine.

Tyrus can still jump. LOL.
He just had a big "block" on some unknown or other.

I can't tell a whole lot from watching this game. Maybe a pattern will emerge over the course of the week.

Noah's absence sort of takes the fun out of it. I'd like to see more of Gray.

was played at the point, and he looked good there.  Slashing to the basket and distrubuting, and hounding the other team's pg all the way up the floor on defense.  This year he's playing the 2, and he's seems to be getting lost some.

by wjb1492 on Jul 9, 2007 3:56 PM CDT reply actions

by sue369 on Jul 9, 2007 4:07 PM CDT up reply actions

That's always what worries me with Tyrus.
When you watch him in person, it looks like he might get killed on every play, especially when he maxes out his vertical.

Now I won't rest easy until I hear an injury update.

by 1958ChiTown on Jul 9, 2007 4:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, I'm hoping for the best
I'm OK if it's something they decide to be cautious and skip the rest of summer league, even though I was looking forward to watching him, just hoping it's nothing long term, or something he decides to try to play through and ends up aggravating.

by wjb1492 on Jul 9, 2007 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Tyrus looked like the best player on the floor
by far.  Which is good because he's the best player in the whole Orlando summer league.  He was out of control at times, but worlds better than last year in that area.

I thought Thabo just didn't have the ball in his hands enough, today.

Gray and Curry seemed to fulfill their scouting reports.

by Scotter on Jul 9, 2007 4:10 PM CDT reply actions

TT questions
  1. Anyone have any news on TT's injury?  His line looked great.
  2. Did he wear #32?  The picture on www.bulls.com shows in 32, but the box and roster say 24.  This would be a great move for him... 32 suits him.

by sue369 on Jul 9, 2007 6:43 PM CDT reply actions

That article
is not completely true. He did wince in pain a couple of times but he did not stay in the game. He left the game twice and the trainer followed him. It didn't look like it was his finger but I could be wrong.

Rooting for
Who is everyone rooting for to make the team?

I hope Cage makes it.  I would really like Marty to make it because i feel bad about all things that happened to him.  I couldnt care much for Gray but he will probably make it since the bulls lack bigness and Curry will probably also make it. If Duhon is gone, I guess Barrett could get 5 minutes per game for like 10 games.  I am rooting for Cage though.

by tyger1147 on Jul 10, 2007 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Pierre Pierce
The one thing I hate about sports in todays age is how we allow ourselves to judge athletes based off the field activity. Remember most of the "good guys" we root for are a product of media and team marketing campaigns. Everyone has varying degrees of problems in our lives. I never liked Mr. Pierce since he went to IOWA and I'm an illini fan but I will not allow his nor any other player's PERSONAL PROBLEMS to interfere in  my entertainment experience i.e. KOBE, Tank, Bill Haas, etc. As I will not root for loul deng just because he gives a lot to charity. I root for him because he's a great player on my favorite team. Why do we hold atheletes to a higher standard then we hold ourself?

by Blacknight23 on Jul 10, 2007 5:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I hate to quibble,
but refusing to cheer for a convicted rapist has nothing to do with holding a player to a "higher standard."

by ChrisRobin on Jul 10, 2007 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions

I never said I would cheer
but if he were a bull (and could get us a title) we might have a different story. Guys like Shelden Williams get passed off as character guys when he was alleged to be doing the same thing before Duke. I just think  everyone deserves a second chance. If he can't control hisself he WILL go to jail but this is a blog about basketball not a criminal court. All I'm saying.

from ESPN.com
With Thomas, already one of the NBA's most dynamic shot-blockers, the unexpected has almost become the expected now.

But it was a more mundane effort, Thomas actually knocking down a couple of 15-foot jump shots, that had defenders shaking their heads in Monday's Pepsi Pro Summer League from Orlando.

Thomas' improved shot from the outside hasn't come by accident. He said he's worked seven days a week so far this offseason, often staying in the gym until he makes 700 jump shots a day.

"I just want to use this week to get a lot better and put to use all the work that I've been putting in," said Thomas, the fourth overall pick of the 2006 NBA draft. "Everything that I've been working on, from my midrange game to my back-to-the-basket game, I'm trying to make them better this summer."
