Problem with my plan

This is reference to my initial thoughts after the lottery, where I reasoned that the best course of action with the 9th pick would be to package it with a sign/traded Andres Nocioni and some other parts to get a starting power forward for next season.

I didn't spell out this logistical problem at the time, but it is certainly an issue: the draft is June 28th and free agents (including restricted ones like Noc) can't be even negotiated with until July 1st. So unless there's a lot of shady under-the-table negotiation, the Bulls won't be picking for another team and packaging that pick with Noc.

That doesn't mean the pick can't be traded on draft night, it just can't be paired with a big salary to acquire another big-salaried player. Maybe someone on a rookie contract who can be had for #9 and Duhon, for instance. And Noc (or PJ Brown for that matter) still is a candidate to be a part of a sign/trade deal. But could Pax just take any prospect with that pick and hope it'd be wanted by any team that's a part of such a deal?

So it's realistic that we could see this #9 pick being made not to be traded itself, but to replace in the rotation whoever is traded later. And that really can open up the possibilities to all positions, however perhaps only to players ready to contribute right away.

My question is

who would wana help us? I mean what team has something we need and that they would really wana trade for say that package. Besides Portland who from what I read would need alot to justify ZBO's contract in a trade with the Bulls. They won't give up Deng so I guess it's just going to be very difficult to get something to match? It's seems like the Bulls are in a bad spot because of the smaller contracts. It's like the Lakers who would wana help them out knowing Kobe is wanting out? Or who really wants to trade with the Knicks? If the Bulls are one post player away from being consisdered a legit contender in the East why would you wana be the team to give them that player? Maybe if the Bulls offer was off the chart. I think I could see the Bulls just drafting the best player and waiting till mid season when teams have fallin apart and wana unload. I really wish there was more video of Hawes because I still have no idea what kinda player he is. Anyways I guess Paxson would have to come up with magic to get something worked out thats fair for both trading parties.
I really have no clue what Im talking about. I tried.

are already a legit contender in the east. All the teams in the east have significant flaws which is why the bulls arent a legit contender for a title.

Three principles that will guide Paxson

The Bulls need a low post presence. Therefore, the conventional wisdom says that the Bulls need a 4 or 5 who can post up. Well, Jordan's Bulls didn't have a 4 or 5 who could post up but they did have a post-up game--just ask John Starks. They did have a collection of 5's that could hit a 12-15 footer on occasion which made the opposing 5 respect them, follow them out to the elbow area, and clear out the middle. So, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
The CBA dictates that in a trade salaries must match, making matching talent difficult. This also makes it difficult for teams with good young players to trade them before they sign their second contract (plus there is the "base year" problem). Noce will be the only one in this category this year, but not until he signs his new contract. Therefore, trading for someone this summer is going to be difficult.
The Bulls seem to be following the Suns plan, and here's how they could match up in the future:

Stoudemire Thomas
Diaw ????
Marion Deng
Bell Sefalosha
Nash Heinrick

Thomas Wallace
Jones Nocioni
Barbosa Gordon

Implications:

Gordon will come off the bench and needs to learn how to be a point guard.
The Bulls will draft the most athletic 2,3,4 available and
Don't forget Nicholas Batum will be available next year

Suns...Bulls Style

Just to add some more, really stupid (on my part i mean) things...

The suns game play style (flashy offense first, dramtic defensive stop, quick quick quick) is depicted of thier point gaurd (nash) and center (stoudemire), while the bulls play style (defense first, pass the ball around and find the open jumper, dribble penetrate) is reflected in thier point gaurd (hinrich) and center (wallace)

if the two teams are gonna match up the way you say it would be pretty fun to watch, the ultimate offense vs the ultimate defense?

im trying hard to become the next kirk hinrich, therefore im doing nothing more than being the next chris duhon.

What the Bulls should do...

The should trade whatever works in this group:

Sweetney,Brown, Nocioni, Duhon, #9 pick.

I realize Sweetbread and Brown are FA's, but Im thinking sign and trade to help match $$.

They should trade some combination of the above for Nick Collison. It works for both the Bulls and Sonics. Sonics get the #2 and #9 pick, with maybe Duhon, Brown, Sweets to make $$ work. They can rebuild. the Bulls get the low post threat they are looking for. IT can work. It can work for both teams. If necessary, the Bulls can add Nocioni to the trade, but I would hope its not necessary.

How about one of the above? (and not Nocioni or the pick.) Collison makes 5.75 million next season, and has a 14.4 career PER. The 06-07 -2.9 Roland rating doesn't speak to him being a steady power forward the Bulls can count on when Tyrus Thomas is jammed up with fouls.
