PLAYOFF Game Thread: Bulls vs. Pistons Game 6

Some breaking news to start, WSCR just reported that both Wallace and Duhon were late (again) to the game. Wallace was late for game 4 and Skiles did nothing. Duhon got a DNP for that same game but Skiles claimed it was due to matchups (i.e. they weren't playing an ACC team), and not the infraction.

Who knows if he'll be benched to start this game, and it's not much of a deal if Skiles decides to. To be honest, I'd be more concerned if Ben Gordon was late. Although if anyone is 'benched' for things like this it's usually for a minute or two. Maybe a Thabo start?

Moving on, one should hope that any perceived boost from the Pistons realizing they may be in trouble is counteracted by the Bulls home crowd. But a quick start would be nice. The Bulls simply cannot let those offensive rebounds get away, because even though it didn't hurt them in the last game you can't assume the Bulls will shoot an ungodly percentage again. I would think Wallace will be more of a factor tonight.

The usual keys apply: get turnovers (and, yes, those boards) to push the pace. Try and make life miserable for Billups. Limit the Noc/Duh minutes.  Don't pass up shots. Get the core guys going.

Man, if the Bulls win tonight it'll make for an insanely fun weekend. Get it done Bulls! I'll show up late to work tomorrow to display solidarity with the squad!

They just said
on Sports Nite that BG was borderline on being late. What the hell? Why do they do this? This shit just took some of my high for this game away.
I have no idea how this will affect the team tonight.

Not sure what to think so far
It's great that the Bulls are totally in it, and doing damage at the line, but the shooting woes seem to be back.  I keep hoping just staying in it will make the Pistons tight - after all, supposedly they can put the Bulls away whenever they want...

Bad shooting quarter for both teams
But on the bright side (I think), the Bulls are missing open shots while the Pistons' misses are more contested, or so it seems. Hopefully Chicago can turn it around and make a run before halftime.

Seriously, what excuses does Detroit have left?
There's a ton of game to be played, so I'm not calling the W now or anything like that.  Just wondering -

They keep saying they can beat the Bulls whenever they decide to get serious - so are they not serious yet?

It's not like they can point at a 72% shooting half tonight.

Just get the core guys going early in the half
and Gordon better not start passing up shots just because he's missing tonight. that's not what making it rain is all about

Since Tyrus forced Skiles hand to play Noc (sortof, he could've let Tyrus pick up #3 with no repercussions) at least Noc guarded fellow statue Chris Webber.

But the guys seriously did have a good season, and I'm incredibly proud of the team for winning the 2 to make it interesting.  We saw again that the team doesn't win when the shooting touch is off, but now Pax and Skiles can turn their attention to making the team better.  All the young guys improved, and I'm truly excited to see what happens this summer and next season.

ben gordon played like a useless
Piece of dung tonight.

Hinrich sucked a taint as well, but at least he played defense. Basically, whoever you put gordon on will have a big night. Gee, gordon on hamilton, hamilton gets off to a 5-5 start. When he was on Billups in earlier games, chaunfuckwad gets off.

Well, if your defense is  going to bite chode, perhaps you should contribute on offense. But no, gordon disappears on offense from time to time, shoots like shit against longer defenders, and commits to's.

If gordon can't be consistent on the offensive end from game to game against good teams, he'll never be anything more than a low rent Microwave.

Fucking guards.

I hate losing to this squad of blumpkins on our home floor.

I'm going down on the court  to take a dump on rasheed.

Gordon deserves it
He's the star on offense and will always get the majority of the blame, or credit, fair or not.  Points-wise, it's not the same, but this game reminded me of Gordon't doughnut against the Wizards in the final playoff game in 2006.

That's two elimation games where Gordon has failed to show up.  How many more we need to see?

the series summary
make shots...you win

miss shots...you lose

i really dont think that the pistons defense was THAT great that caused the bulls to shoot in the mid 30's percentage wise.  Plenty of open and good looks but the bulls werent hitting them.  Deng develops a little post up hook shot like prince and he will be one step closer to dominating.

Have to comment again
What I'm really trying to get across is why you have to come on here and proclaim to the heavens that "The Bulls are done," or "Chicago sucks," when just a couple days ago you were ready to bend over with your pants down to your ankles, saying that they do have a bright future, where just a couple posts ago you said their future will have fun "rebuilding." Why a team would blow up after going to the 2nd round in the Conference Semi-Finals with 2 rookies and their core still being under 27 is beyond me(it's sometimes nice to think before you type).

You don't see any of us do anything as dumb as what you're doing, by going on a Pistons blogs and coming up with arguments that don't make much sense, or just being a complete dick. So, why do you do it? For attention, validation? To feel good about yourself, because you can't feel good when you're around your peers? Did Mama not hug you enough, or can't take a pretty girl out on a date?

No, but really. Calm down, there's no need for foul play.

according to the equation used earlier:

present+future > past... well, good luck detroit fans because you'll still end up being the 3rd best team in the playoffs considering the title is being decided between the spurs and the suns.  after that, the future i think is definitely in chicago and as documented, there's really no shot in the near future of you guys coming close to 6 titles, so advantage chicago again.  enjoy this win and losing to whoever comes out of the west.  congrats again.

by daaaabulls on May 18, 2007 1:23 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The Bulls are too soft to ever be champs...
Hinrich - Plays like a European. And not in the good way.

Gordon - Game is better suited for the WNBA. Has value as a sixth man only.

Wallace - $60 million for a temperamental head case? Late arriving to two games during a six game span? There's a reason why the Pistons didn't re-sign him.

Thomas - Lots of potential, but a better fit for the Suns than the Bulls.

Deng - Very talented. No balls. Potential to another Scottie Pippen, but slightly less of a pussy.

by alex cutter on May 18, 2007 1:44 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

you're an idiot
with how your team is aging, joe dumars would take any of the players you mentioned to replace someone on your own team.  i'm not saying hinrich/gordon are better than billups/hamilton, but don't try to pretend you wouldn't want them on your team if the opportunity was there.  also, in regards to big ben, the pistons "didn't resign him"... PLEASE.  they made an offer and wanted him back... they just didn't offer enough.  so let's not pretend you guys didn't want him... and you guys were dumb enough to take nazr. lucky for you that webber landed in your laps mid-season. the pistons run is almost over.  think before you make wide generalizations.
