Win or Lose....
I just hope the Bulls make the Heat play hard for 48 minutes.  Well, I guess if they win it doesn't matter if and for how long the Heat play hard.

But if the Bulls are going to lose, they need Shaq to play a lot of minutes and for the Heat to have to work extremely hard to get the W.

The turnaround for Game 4 is fairly quick for an old team like Miami.  I'm not sure Shaq's legs (and those of Antione Walker, Eddie Jones and some of the other dinosaurs Miami has) will recover in time for a 1pm tip on Sunday if he has to play 40+ difficult minutes tonight.

Go Bulls!

Huh?
I've read this site nearly everyday since it was started, but I rarely post.

Not sure what you're talking about.

Oh damn, nevermind.
There are two other people with names similar to yours. I thought it was just you getting bored with the same name. My fault

I don't live in Chicago...
But on channel 730 on DirecTV the Bulls game is in HD on Comcast.

It's supposed to be the White Sox game, but I guess since they moved it to CSN+, they're confused.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 7:07 PM CDT reply actions

You'd think I was playing
as hard as my heart is beating - I think I forget to breathe while watching.  :)

Good thing Miami has so many white seat covers - wonder if they rent them out for weddings during the offseason?

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 7:17 PM CDT reply actions

The whole white-out thing is weak sauce
Good start for the Bulls, although Ben with 2 fouls already has me concerned.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 7:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Just once
I'd like to see Thabo and Kirk in the backcourt together.

You can hear the whole stadium bitch and moan.

duh
doesn't look like a total liability when he's not guarding wade...

the refs don't acknowledge home court advantage i see... i like it!!

I can't
hear the WHITE HOT HEAT??

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 7:31 PM CDT reply actions

bit ironic
they call it a whiteout, but theres never been an inh of snow in miami

by milesgmsu on Apr 28, 2007 9:16 AM CDT up reply actions

Man, even Du's knocking em down
You could totally see that charge call on Kirk coming.  But I like that they don't seem to be letting any of the little bumps or runs rattle them.

I wonder if the refs are going to watch the Heat closely after all their talk about being more physical and their history with the Bulls.

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

I agree, they have
I'm pleasantly surprised - not because of any conspiracy, but just the normal home court calls plus the Heat having a couple of "stars."

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree
I was thinking that this would be rough because they would come out with home crowd energy then i remembered how old the heat are.

by SRQman on Apr 27, 2007 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

it's fortunate that these games start late
the heat can grab those early bird dinner specials that end at 5pm.

PLAYOFF TIME. LETS GO CHICAGO!

by NittanyBull on Apr 27, 2007 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

no, he doesn't
it's like skiles doesn't have a gameplan for a no shaq lineup.  or he's trying to appease chitown, paxjax, matt and joejoe all at the same time.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 7:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Never in a billion years
thought I'd see Skiles put Thabo and Ty in at the same time in only the 2nd quarter.  It may not have gone smoothly, but I'm still pretty psyched just to have him try it.

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 7:45 PM CDT reply actions

I hate Alonzo Mourning, what a child.
Who honestly pumps their chest, waves their white towel while timidly walking on the court, when they're not even playing? What a joke of a basketball player.

I used
to have a rule that I'd never make fun of transplant patients, but Alonzo's single-handedly made me change my tune on that one.

ps.  i hate antoine walker... just rides coat-tails.

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 7:53 PM CDT up reply actions

It'd almost be tolerable if he did it only
ever once in a while. But he does it on almost every score, or when O'Neal scores. It really annoys me, I don't know why.

by NittanyBull on Apr 27, 2007 7:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Something to smile about
Even though the Bulls have 7 turnovers this quarter, and the heat have gone 9-13 during the 2nd(I think), they're only down by 3.
PLAYOFF TIME. LETS GO CHICAGO!

by NittanyBull on Apr 27, 2007 8:01 PM CDT reply actions

I was just about to say
How bad the Bulls were doing and they are only down by 3 is good. They need to cut down on turnovers and Heat need to cool down.

by SRQman on Apr 27, 2007 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions

something to not smile about
duhon guarding wade... ewwww

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Who knew?
Noc could get up higher than Haslem.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:10 PM CDT reply actions

that was #4 on SC top 10 ;list
but nocioni looked soo pitiful jumping ot block that...maybe its cuz im used to T-2, BG, and the body; or amybe its his foot, but i think he barley outjumped what chris webber could ahve done

by milesgmsu on Apr 28, 2007 9:19 AM CDT up reply actions

What a pathetic second quarter.
Absolutely putrin every way.

Here are the players who are having a decent game thus far:

Deng
Wallace
Hinrich (maybe)

Here are the players having bad games thus far:

Every other player (but one)

Here are the players having a terrible game thus far:

Gordon.

We really squandered a chance to stomp on their throats. Unbelievable.

by 1958ChiTown on Apr 27, 2007 8:15 PM CDT reply actions

From 60% shooting in the first
to 28.6% in the second - not to mention the TOs - that will turn a game around pretty darn quick.  I suppose we're going to see a lot of this lineup now.

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 8:16 PM CDT reply actions

how hard is it for skiles
to realize duhon should never guard wade... MY GOD!!!

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:20 PM CDT reply actions

Agree that DUhon-Wade is mismatch...
But unfortunately, Thabo played very poorly as well.

by 1958ChiTown on Apr 27, 2007 8:22 PM CDT up reply actions

i like wade
but give me a break... put a hard foul on the guy.  make him worry about coming back into the lane with his bum shoulder.

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Please tell Skiles...
To take Noco out! When you set a pick, please roll to the damn basket! Sitting around allows your man to double team without having to worry. The guy is clogging up the offense and looks totally out of sync.

by ScottSkilles Hair on Apr 27, 2007 8:22 PM CDT reply actions

unfortunately
it's not all noc's fault, seems like BG forgot how to dribble, too.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, Noce is killing us tonight...
He had 2 good plays (a 3 and that block on Haslem's fast break), but probably a half dozen plays that killed us (including having a 3 blocked right before he had his big block).

He took a bad 3 on a fast break right after entering the game which led to a Heat break the other way which kind of got Miami going in the first qtr.

It's obvious the Heat are flaring out on every pick and roll (especially against Gordon).  Hopefully Skiles can make the right adjustments.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Ben Gordon really played terribly.
He needs to get back on track.

It's going to be hard to win even if he does.

by 1958ChiTown on Apr 27, 2007 8:27 PM CDT reply actions

benny G
needs to get his streaky play back

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Bulls are still in it
I really feel like this game is there for the taking if Skiles makes the right moves.  Noc and BG need to start shooting and forget about dribbling/passing.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:31 PM CDT reply actions

that screen and roll
with wallace seems like it is always open.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:33 PM CDT reply actions

we're totally in it
the old men are gonna get tired

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:33 PM CDT reply actions

Damn it!
DirecTV just figured out that the CSN broadcast of the game should be blacked out.

Now I'm forced to listen to the ESPN announcers (not to mention the game's in 720p on ESPN as opposed to CSN's 1080i).

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 8:37 PM CDT reply actions

We just look terrible.

I can't believe we are doing this.

God knows he can turn it around quick.

I hope he does.

I'm doing my very own "Po-Z sucks" chant
but it doesn't seem to be working.

Ben needs to make better decisions with the ball.  Guess this is his off-night, but would sure be nice if he didn't compound the bad shooting with so many TOs!

We need the 4th foul on Shaq and Haslem.

Basically, we can't stop Wade or Shaq.
This is just sad.

We look like a retarded, confused team right now.

wow
BG just got the star treatment on that call.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:46 PM CDT reply actions

Good, hard foul.
Gordon didn't try anything Posey-like.

BUT, I love how Wade lays on the floor with his eyes closed when Gordon is trying to help him out. That's just swell.

...And what kind of PA announcer starts "Let's go Heat" chants?  Talk about weak sauce...

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

ive heard it for far too long

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:50 PM CDT reply actions

Hello everyone on Blogabull
you've got to set the pick first!!!!!!!!  The big man is stepping out on the dribbler.  They've been doing that for half the season already.  It's not the fault of the guy who sets the pick, it's up to the guard to get around the big man.

by bullshooter on Apr 27, 2007 8:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Every second we play like this, we give the Heat
confidence.

I can't believe we're not even on pace to make it close in the 4th. We're not going to put any real presure on them.

by 1958ChiTown on Apr 27, 2007 8:50 PM CDT reply actions

absolutely right
they're gonna think games 1 and 2 were flukes... cmon bulls!!

by daaaabulls on Apr 27, 2007 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions

As long as the Bulls keep it within single
digits, I think they're in a good spot heading into the fourth.
PLAYOFF TIME. LETS GO CHICAGO!

by NittanyBull on Apr 27, 2007 8:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Bulls need to keep it close in the 4th...
...As I said in the 1st post of this thread, if the Heat have to work hard for the full 48 to get a W, they're going to be feeling it come 1pm Sunday.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 8:54 PM CDT up reply actions

They may get tired tonight
Heat's shooting has dropped off this quarter, and they're under .500 from the foul line

by wjb1492 on Apr 27, 2007 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Goodness Ben
has such a pretty shot. They need to get hot. The offense is looking better at passing

by SRQman on Apr 27, 2007 8:56 PM CDT reply actions

Any chance we have depends upon closing
out this quarter effectively.

We can't let them go on a quarter ending run.

by 1958ChiTown on Apr 27, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions

Oh god, only down by four.
I am very, very nervous right now.

Can we pull this out?

I don't know about you guys, but I spent a good 3-4 minutes per half cussing out Riley last season for the "hack a ben" "strategy"...  it's bogus, and if they want to give you 3 free throws on a fouled 3 point attempt like college, then they should call intentional fouls like college.  it screws up the game, and shows up the player that's affected by it

I doubt you'll have an easy time like you're having against MIA.  I know ORL can't be considered in the same breath as MIA, but DET is handling their business, with ease.

I'd rather go through the best the East has to offer rather than going through Miami and then CLE...

It'll be a good series, but just so you know, it won't be like the regular season.  As long as Old man Davis sets the tone like he did last night, I'm not all that worried.

exactly

by milesgmsu on Apr 28, 2007 9:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Because Bavetta obviously got the call from Stern
to do everything he could to help the Heat win.  Which he did.  Some of his calls (notably the back court violaton that was 4 secs late and the charge on BG late in the game) were total BS.

As a Bulls fan I know when a ref has been instructed to keep a team in a game or series.  See Hue Hollins in Game 5 of the '94 Eastern Conference semis.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 10:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Are you kidding me?
So are you saying that it's a conspiracy?  If it was a "conspiracy", there would have been a lot more calls tonight when Wade went up for his jumpshots.  There was more contact on Wade tonight than last year's Finals, yet no call.  I'm not complaining, I think last year's finals was crappy...  I couldn't believe the stat they flashed up tonight about the 20+ free throws Wade took in the Finals last year...

You won the game...  take the win for what it is... a win.

by Boney @ Blog a Bull on Apr 27, 2007 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions

besides...
Stern is in California right now...  Bavetta doesn't have a cell phone with him on the court to take Stern's phone call

by Boney @ Blog a Bull on Apr 27, 2007 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions

What I'm saying is...
...it's in the NBA's best interest for this series to go as long as possible.  With Detroit on the verge of sweeping Orlando the last thing Stern needs is the Bulls to sweep Miami and have two series over early.

Not just for the fact that he could potentially lose a couple games on TV, but also because two of the league's biggest stars (Shaq and DWade) play for Miami.  The theory goes that the casual fan will watch the big name stars.  The Heat have two of those, so it's in Stern's and the NBA's best interest to have them play as long as possible.

I honestly don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to think that Stern could have instructed Bavetta to help Miami out.

If he has all the refs do this, it's too obvious.  But in the NBA, one ref can effect the outcome.  If you go back and rewatch, I'm guessing that 90% of the questionable/bad calls against the Bulls were called by Bavetta.

by Granville Waiters on Apr 27, 2007 11:23 PM CDT up reply actions

If this was true
Kevin Garnett would not be playing golf right now. Adn we would've seen Yao and T-Mac play way more than they have in the playoffs the last few years. It's just silly to bring up, especially since the Bulls are about to win this series.

by Goostafer on Apr 27, 2007 11:32 PM CDT up reply actions

That's the genius of it...
...if you do it all season long, everyone's on to you, and your product loses it's credibility.

You let the regular season play out, then try to get the best possible matchups in the later rounds of the playoffs.  If you can't get the ideal matchups you want (ie, Miami-Detroit in the 2nd rd this year), you make the series go as long as possible for TV and advertising purposes.

Face it, no casual NBA fan watches the regular season.  Hell, even fans of a lot of NBA teams don't watch a good chunk of the regular season.  I'm a huge Bulls fan, but since I don't live in Chicago and can't afford the $150 for NBA league pass, I was limited to watching only Bulls games that were nationally televised.

Casual fans tune in for the playoffs b/c they want to see the best teams and the biggest stars, at least that's what Stern and the NBA believes.

And KG can hardly be considered one of the league's biggest stars anymore, in terms of bringing in TV ratings b/c he's never won a thing.

It's the small line up!
At the Post game conference, Riley said that once Skiles switched to the small line up, they (Heat) just didn't have an answer for it. Could we have been wrong this entire time? Could the small lineup actually be benefiting this team more than it seems? Hard to believe.

The Heat
really dug themselves into this hole by shooting 16-35 free throws.  They would have won if they hadnt sucked from the free throw lines.  The bulls had twice the turnover and played sloppy for about %70 of the game.

I really have started to hate the heat more and more.  I wonder if the bulls are up by a lot in the fourth quarter if they can activate khryapa and have him beat the shit out of James Posey and Antoine Walker (those  damn facial expressions he makes are unbearable).

I also dont understand what was up witht he pick and roll execution tonight.  And the bulls should drive to the basket more often and earlier. Nocioni doesn't look too good out there.  He was getting schooled by walker at avarious points during the game.  It was very sad. Oh and Duhon played a hell of a game...

by Sambossanova on Apr 28, 2007 12:25 AM CDT reply actions

Too negative, IMO.
"The Heat really dug themselves into this hole by shooting 16-35 free throws.  They would have won if they hadnt sucked from the free throw lines.  The bulls had twice the turnover and played sloppy for about %70 of the game."

I think credit should go to the Bulls for wining on the road. The Heat didn't give the Bulls the game. They took it.

It's not like Miami (and especially Shaq) was really proficient at FT shooting this year and just had an off night. It's a flaw in their team. The Bulls are a better team.

chicagosports.com has ben gordon as game mvp
did they even watch the f** game?  a night off and he'd still get 40% of the votes. Just because Ben and 'star' are synonymous because the announcers need one player to cling to, our fans are eating this sh* up...

Kirk and Deng and (recently wallace) have been much more valuable for the last stretch. What does it say about a player when fans immediately get nervous whenever they see him 'dribbling' the basketball.
