Game Thread #51: Bulls at Golden State Warriors
[Tonight's game preview comes from much-maligned commenter Colossus -Matt]
dis·ap·point·ment - noun. The act of disappointing. One that disappoints. What happens when the Chicago Bulls go out West.Examples: Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler, Isiah Thomas.
Yep, that sums up yet another forgettable road trip out West thus far. Maybe the fortunes of our beloved Bulls will change with a trip to consistently shitty Golden State Warriors. The Bulls continued their consistent poor play by sucking royally against the Sacramento Kings last night.......did you catch the pun?
The Bulls haven't beaten the Warriors at Oracle Arena since January 30, 1998. Will this losing streak be broken? Not if the Bulls decide to shoot .333 (34-102) from the field, including 4-18 in 3's, and send the opposing team to the charity line 26 times. The only somewhat good thing that occured in Thursday night's loss was the man that's allergic to offense, Griffin, only seeing 2 minutes of play and the worst big man on our team, Allen, just netting 7 minutes but being somewhat productive during that time (2-3 FG, 3 RBS, 1 BLK) but committed 2 fouls.
If the Bulls plan on beating the recently revamped but still sucking Warriors tonight, it'll most likely have to be by taking advantage of Golden State's 46.1 opponent FG% and with contributions from slumping core members, Hinrich, Gordon, and Deng. The Warriors currently out-shoot Chicago with 45.7% vs. 45.6%. Yep, not much at all, but with the way the Bulls have been playing, who knows what the fuck might just happen?
Blogging with the Enemy: Golden State of Mind. Unlike certain other basketball blogs (not going to name names) out there, it appears people actually visit the site and make comments (I'm sure not nearly as deep and thoughtful as ours).
FanPosts are user-created posts from the BlogABull community, and are to be treated as the opinions and views of that particular user, not that of the blogger or blog community as a whole.

Miami-Cleveland up first...
I'd rather see
It's obvious he's going nowhere with Cleveland because they're an old, slow, overpaid team with coaching and managment issues.

Nah, I never pull for an injury
And this game has made quite clear that my humongous and intense dislike of all things related to the Miami Heat has grown to the point that I can indeed pull for a Cavs win (but only in this one, limited instance!)

That must stop
This is a JUMP SHOOTING OFFENSE. If you're afraid to take a wide open shot, then sit down already.
I hate the phrase "must win"... but I'm compelled to say this ranks right up there. They don't just need a decent performance, they need a WIN - otherwise, I fear that it, coupled with a likely blowout in Phoenix on Sunday, could be a real blow to whatever confidence this club has left.

and to beat anyone else to the point, why are we fighting? As bulls fans we need to stick together, because the team sure as hell isn't. How the hell does Ben Wallace end up with the ball at the end of the shot clock after we just came out of a TO?
And WTF is wrong with BG? That was a wide open look.

It wasn't his problem that he ended up with the ball at the end of the shot clock. He had to shoot it. What do you want him to do? Let the shot clock run out. Wallace played really well tonight. Huge rebounding game and great defense.

still, in the post game conference, coach skiles said they were going for the lob dunk. how quickly the way the time outs were coming I'd like to have seen skiles alternate big ben and tt between timeouts on for defensive and offensive sets. put the speedy three guard line up and deng and tt going for the quick lob dunk, and when the other team calls time out, put big ben in for the defensive set.
hopefully tt can practice the lob dunk with his teammates for the dunk contest.

a little off-topic,

Wallace
He has had very solid classic Wallace games these past three or four games.
As for the rest of the team: I really don't know if Gordon, Deng, Hinrich are a bunch of overachievers or underachievers. It seems like they never all play consistently well for long stretches of games. I think Deng is the one that needs to step it up the most or else they should trade him. Gordon is also key, but when hes not making the outside shot or he is in foul trouble, Deng has to step it up make some moves and drive...
If he hits the weight room and transforms into a quick 4 instead of a big 3 that gets beaten off the dribble by artest, he would be much more dangerous.

That degree is meaningless
In terms in sweeping generalizations, a woman would most likely stand a better chance than a black man, but I don't see any woman, not even Hillary, that can top Obama for likeability and electability. Plus, who are exactly can the GOP counter with? McCain is becoming closer and closer to just how far-right Bush is. Guliani is merely mooching off 9/11. IIRC, before 9/11 he was hated in NYC and there were posters all over the city depicting him as a nazi for his countless civil liberty violations.
But him vs. Obama means they couldn't touch Obama on personal ethics. Last I checked, Obama did cheat on his wife with a staff member, nor divorce one because he wanted to be with another woman that he was cheating on behind her back.

look at the electoral math
Personally, not that any of you care, but I would love to see hillary or barack in office, but I don't think we will.
Richardson/Vilsack/Edwards...those are the guys who would win it
The electoral college is an absolute joke
Including the Senators gives an unfair advantage to the person that wins the most states regardless of each states' population. This is why Bush won in 2000 and 2004. Out of the 538 electoral votes, it ended up being Bush: 271, Gore: 266, Undecided: 1 (Washington, DC did so in protest of not having a voting member in Congress). Take away the 100 Senators and that would make it 438. Now, Bush won 30 states and Gore won 20 (plus Washington, DC but it doens't have any Senators and isn't a state). Since Bush had 271 and won 30 states, take away 60 (30 x 2 = 60) and that would leave him with 211. Now, Gore had 266 and won 20 states, so take away 40 (20 x 2 = 40), and he'd be left with 226.
The new totals are:
Gore: 226
Bush: 211
Hmmmmm, look who won now? Including the Senators makes the Electoral College complete bullshit and not a true reflection of actual population. The same would have happend in 2004.

But the Man owns the bookstore!!!!
Looks like passing up on Roy was a mistake. Yep, Ty is still young and raw, but drafting Roy would have made getting Gasol a lot easier. He's on track to win Rookie of the Year and would allow us to give up Gordon to get Gasol. Hell, Memphis would probably be more inclined to take Roy than Goron, Ty, or Deng because of he has two extra years left on his rookie contract and is showing a ceiling as high as any of them. Plus, he's far more productive than Ty (yes, I know Ty has far less play time and is on a better, more mature team and that affects his stats).
Now, if we had wanted Roy instead of Ty, it's likely that Portland wouldn't have done the trade of Aldridge for Ty and Krap-ya since Portland wanted to take Roy with the pick they got from Boston (I bet Danny feels like an absolute moron for giving that pick up for fucking Telfair). Assuming it didn't happen, we wouldn't have Krap-ya on our team and that would leave us with: Allen, Noc, Deng, Brown, and Wallace as our big men. Now since we went G with our first pick, we wouldn't have needed to take Sefolosha with our second pick, but we still could have swapped picks with Philly and sent them cash. Big men taken after #13 (Philly's pick) were: Simmons, Pecherov, Boone, and Freeland (that's all PF's and C's taken the rest of the first-round).
Not many great guys to pick from. All of them are a year or two away. Freeland and Pecherov are still in Europe and signed two-year deals prior to this season. Boone is seeing very limited play and managing to shoot well from the field when he does see action though (yes, I know, a small sample size). Simmons is seeing more action and putting up worse numbers than Boone (yes, again a small sample size for a young and raw player).
The point being, had the Bulls taken Roy and then one of those four big men with the other pick, it would make getting Gasol far easier. I'm just typing a bunch of rubbish, so I'll stop now....

A quick note on this weekend...
I had plans to go Snowboarding with some friends.
During a good time snowboarding, on the way down from the mountain, I slid on an ice patch, fell backwards, and hit my head against the ice. My snowboard went flying for about 30yards and I started walking towards one of my friends. I fell and lost conciousness. Got rushed to the Hospital, and I had a Mild concussion. I got my Cat Scanned, I seem to be fine. My memory was shot. I was asking the same questions about the accident and the day as it progressed over and over and over. Then finally, when I started coming to, I asked my Girlfriend, "Did the Bulls really lose last night or was I dreaming?" She said yes, they lost... Then I said. "did the lose by two when Gordon missed the game winnning three shooting an airball?" She says yes, that I was really pissed off and went straigh to sleep...
-
WHY?! I asked my self, why, of all things that I could have forgotten, why does my mind want to remember how the Bulls lost?! Is this sick?! Yes!
-
Currently, I'm still regaining my energy and memory. I've been reading this Blog and can't believe it. I was even mad at myself for starting Al Harrington on my Fantasy Team. - I injured my head, neck, right shoulder, and lower hip towards the back... In the Hospital, I made my brother go get me the paper so I could read the scores...
