Bonzi Wells for Sweets?

On espnews, Chris Sheridan said that as a backup plan if the Bulls don't pull of Gasol, there was a deal involving Bonzi and Sweets. He made it seem like it was up to the Bulls. Anyone else see this so I don't seem crazy?  Sorry Matt, no link or anything. Anyway I say why not go for it. Let the arguing begin...

At least he has a post-up game
But it's hard to give up size when that's what the Bulls need most. Plus, Bonzi's past work ethic issues isn't going to remove that scowl off of Skiles' face any time soon.

Don't see it happening
unless the Gasol deal goes down first and Gordon is sent packing.  Difficult to see Bonzi as Skiles type of player though.

I'd avoid anyone associated with the
former JailBlazers.  (Side note: the current Blazers no longer deserve that title - I'm talking about the guys on the team in the good old days of an arrest every week)

Bonzi
I think this would be an offer that would only happen if the Bulls (we) get a big.  I would also assume that this would mean Gordon is involved in the Gasol trade.  If we lose Gordon, I would hate to see us send this years draft pick to Memphis.  Bonzi could fill in for this year and we could draft a two guard for the future.  Bottom line Bonzi can score, but he wears a head band.

I think something big is going to get hammered out tonight.  :)

I could envision...
Deng going in the trade to Memphis for Gasol, Wells coming here to help Nocioni in the three, and then drafting AL THORNTON!!! Or not. Al's senior stats:
min    ppg    reb   ast  TO   stl   blk   fg%   ft%   3fg%
2006-2007  30.9  19.1  7.0  .7   2.4   1.4  1.0   .519    .840  .424

Not saying it's what I'd do (I think it's close enough to make me undecided), but I could see it happening.

its
pretty amazing there have been practically no deals made yet except for that Ely to San antonio deal.

Theres about 20 hours till the deadline and nothing??

Is it always crazy at the last moment?

Cant wait to come back from class tomorrow and see who has been traded and who hasnt.

I just heard it myself
(yes, I tape ESPNNEWS during the day. 'The Hot List' is actually a very informative show)

I don't think this is contingent on anything, really. They're not playing Sweetney whether the team gets another big or not.

I like the idea simply because Bonzi would take minutes from Duhon (hehe), and even though he's a guard he is a post-up scorer.

It's up to the team's braintrust to find out if he's in shape and can be properly motivated. He is in a contract year, so I think it'd be worth it just to find out.

Probably won't happen until
the very last possible minute in case Sweets is needed as extra salary for a bigger deal.
Iowa - where 8th place is considered a success.

I don't get this one
I mean I would take Bozi over sweets but is Bozi ok with the no headband rule?

I'd trade Sweetney for Bonzi Wells in a minute
What do we have to lose there?  Sweetney didn't even get off the bench on Tuesday in a 20 point blowout; that should tell you where he stands right now.  If Wells acts like a dickhead, they can just send him home like they did with Tim Thomas.  Considering that he''ll be playing for a new contract, though, I bet he can manage to behave for two months.

Exactly...
I've been a huge Yao (2002) and McGrady (2001) fan for awhile and when they got together in Houston, a Rockets fan. Anyway, so I read up on the Bonzi situation back in November. Unfortunately, this is only IIRC.

He overplayed his hand in SacTown. He knows that. Instead of taking whatever exception he would have to stay in Sacramentofor an extended time (probably his last serious contract), he chose to go to Houston for cheap. He hoped that he could be the sixth man on a team making a deep playoff run. He also wanted to show that his past "behavioral problems" were just that, in the past.

Since he's only getting 21 minutes a game in Houston, I'm sure he'd do anything at this point (especially showing he could thrive under a "strict" coach) to get a good contract this off-season.

While I've never een a huge fan of Wells, as Matt said and implied, if he can be used effectively 25-30 minutes per game, that's time away from Duhon, Griffin and even Thabo (I don't like it, but I think it'd be better for this year).

Maybe we'll get lucky and Sacramento will trade Bibby for Gooden et al., and then Duhon/Allen for Shareef and then Sweetney for Wells.

It doesn't make the Bulls any better in the post, really, but at least gives them "something" there. Plus, it keeps Duhon from playing and next year will DEFINITELY open up more playing time for Thabo. And also, wouldn't it allow the Bulls to do a "Sign and Trade" if Wells earns that big paycheck he wants?

Yes, I am trying to avoid working.

We should've taken a hard look
at Maggette. I don't know what LA would want other than expiring deals.
It would've made Gordon easier to give up in a deal to the Grizz. Oh well, I'm just waiting til the deadline to see what goes down. All this speculation is making me tired.
