Open Game Thread #3: Bulls at Milwaukee Bucks

[Thanks to 'Big D' for today's game preview. -Matt

The Bulls will attempt to win their first game of the season tonight when they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks (7:30 CDT, WGN).

The Bucks are also 0-2, and they're coming off a bizarre ending to their game last night in Charlotte.  Trying to come back late in the game, the Bucks' Mo Williams drove in the lane and hit a layup with 0.6 seconds left.  Unfortunately, the Bucks were down by 3 at the time.  So look on the bright side; as bad as the Bulls have played in the first two games, at least they've known what the score was at all times.

The big story with the Bucks has been the progress of Yi, but so far, he's had trouble staying on the court.  In their season opener, he played relatively well, scoring 9 points (on 4-5 shooting) in 25 minutes.  Last night though, he battled foul trouble again and scored only 2 points on 1-6 shooting in 15 minutes.  Of course, it doesn't really matter how he plays; barring foul trouble, he'll be getting plenty of minutes this season.

The Bulls were 4-0 last season against the Bucks, but of course, the game everybody remembers is Ben Gordon's 48-point outburst last March.  Actually, maybe people don't remember it, because the game wasn't even televised in the Chicago area.  The Bucks aren't known for their tough defense (or really for playing any at all), so hopefully Gordon can go off again tonight.  He might have to if Michael Redd lights up the Bulls the way he did last season.  Redd scored 52 in that game last March, and averaged 38 a game against the Bulls last season.

The Bucks had a ton of injuries last season and spent most of the second half of the season in full-fledged tank mode (unsuccessfully, as it turned out), so they should be better than they were last year.  Nevertheless, this is a game the Bulls should win - but we all said the same thing last night, didn't we?

Hey Matt...
...would it be hard to add game times and/or broadcast information onto these? Or at least when it's nationally televised and where. If it is, no problem.
Yes, of course.

by tyger1147 on Nov 3, 2007 1:15 PM CDT   0 recs

I can add it
That's a good idea, actually.

by Big D on Nov 3, 2007 1:27 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

tonight's X FACTORS
Will Wayne make it from whatever Big Ten game he called today to the Bradley Center on time? (his green and yellow Hummer is a ticket magnet.)

Is WGN going to haul the HD cameras to Milwaukee?

Will Red ask for "Joe Green" time again?

by hscs on Nov 3, 2007 3:41 PM CDT   0 recs

Ha!
Oh that Wayne, he's such a whore.

I missed 'Joe' Green. Who was Red referring to? Willie?

You forgot the wish-it-was-a-joke factor of the night: bench scoring.

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Nov 3, 2007 3:58 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

He was refering to Joe Smith.
It's getting sad.

Isn't getting out of speeding tickets in Wisconsin  a perk that goes along with calling Packer games?

by Scotter on Nov 3, 2007 4:07 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

No
Unless you're in Green Bay.

And Now I must leave or I'll be in danger of getting pulled over for a speeding ticket.

by KT on Nov 3, 2007 4:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

i was in sconnieville recently
and my far away coastie passenger kept asking why I was only going 5-10 over on the highway. it's probably a cancer risk to drive on the highways with all the radar gun firepower aimed at drivers.

by hscs on Nov 3, 2007 5:04 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

and they like to give tickets to those
folks from down south. :)

But I've driven in this state for a very, very, long time, and finally got my first speeding ticket a year ago. I'm still bummed.

Minnesota pulls people over if they're going just 5 over, btw.

by KT on Nov 3, 2007 11:32 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I thought it was so funny when he said that.
Then Tom Dore was like well we gotta take a break. I think Red is going to punch King in the ass.
Hey who let Danny Crawford back in the league?

what was really funny
was when Red called Andre Miller Richard Pryor.

for league pass? I can't find it on the NBA website

Go to
NBA.com then go to the video drop down menu and click League Pass. Should take you to the League Pass homepage. Hit Watch Live! and you should be good. That is how I got it.

There is also...
...a link on the game info page. Click on the game on the NBA.com homepage on the left side... and below the right scoreboard will be something that says, "Watch Game Live" or something.
Yes, of course.

why won't they let me pay them to get this.  the cable in my area doesnt offer league pass so I'm screwed.

Listen to the Bulls online.
http://stations.espn.go.com/stations/espnradio1000/story?id=listenlive

Click on the "Listen to the Bulls Online for Free" picture in the middle of the page.  It should send you right to the correct page on NBA.com.  The window that pops up will give you the list of games today and you need to click Chicago obviously.  You have to have a free account setup and be logged in, but that isn't too difficult to set up if you haven't yet.

from this site, called MyP2P. Given a good internet connection, they can give feeds from just about any American sport.

Anything better than .500 is a stretch
The team got worse this year, not better. 49 wins one year does not translate into 54 wins the next. Look at the Clippers- they completely fell apart after they won their first series in a while. Same thing with the Bulls. I don't think they can beat the Bucks tonight. I may be wrong but they just don't look like they want to play anymore.

On the bright side, our bench is outscoring there's. ;)

so i got back fromt he um - msu game
so if i seem more suicidal than usual i apologize; and i didn't see the game last night

but everyone saying this team sucks is really starting to piss me off. its 2 freakin games...one of them a game we would never win, and the other our usual hope opener bad loss. This team is still poised to lose in 5 to the spurs in the finals, so wait until we're 0-9 to start your bitching.
