Open (preseason) thread #2: Bulls vs. Dallas Mavericks
In the question of who's playing or not, I'd assume everyone who's a 'maybe' is likely out, because...why not?

Glad to help!
This is my first year to get League Pass, and I'm so excited to get to actually watch all these games instead of just following on Gamecast!

Completely over your Yi man-crush already?
In the Bulls' locker room, Gray acted as though he'd just lost the game for his team.
"Maybe my stats are OK, but I'm making so many mistakes out there," he said. "I have a lot to learn yet. Especially defensively, my rotations are so slow. I'm not seeing everything as clear as I should. It's going to take some repetition. With hard work, I think I'll be all right."
I've been high on Noah since we drafted him, but Gray is growing on me quickly.

As for Gray, it's making it easier and easier to not even wonder about Hawes in a Bulls unifom. Call me foolish, but it looks like Hawes would have been doing the same thing Gray is. I KNOW IT'S PRESEASON.

Just got back from the game
- Section 213 does not ever receive parachute tee shirts
- The Benny the Bull video of them throwing shit off of the united center roof is hilarious
- The halftime dancers are way better than the loveables
- The Loveables are even worse this year than normal. And ugly.
- If Tyrus plays at a minimum like he did tonight I'll be real happy. He hit a couple shots. Enough to keep you somewhat honest. He is a very good defensive rebounder. He made a few hussle plays. He got to the line and shot decent. Add a few exciting athletic plays and keeping the turnovers and stupid forced offense to a minimum and you have a pretty good game.
- Grey. What else can I add. Player of the game. Double/double. But he does it in a way that tells you he could do this often. There was nothing spectacular here, just real solid. I see an upside of a Brad Miller.
- Noah. As Option27 and Joejoe said above, he is solid as hell. It is not a coincidence that his cross court passes turn into made shots. Its because he delivers the ball excellently. He didn't have as good of a game tonight as in game 1, but even his lesser game puts him all over the state sheet.
- Big Ben did not have a great game. He fell back into that uncoordinated offensive shit. And Defensively he wanders and the week Mavs centers still make him pay. I wish Skiles had the guts on nights where he does not bring it and in mid season when his body needs a rest, to limit him to 20 minutes against some teams and let Grey, Noah, TT and Smith get the minutes.
- Noc played terrible until a great stretch. He needs to be more of a matchup guy. He couldn't match up with Stackhouse or Josh Howard. But he will be a great 6th man as he can light it up. he is tough. Brings energy and takes the charges.
- Kirk will have a great season. He is not a top 5 point guard and never will be.
- Deng's post game is for real.
- Gardner can/should make the team. Apart from the athletic plays, he also is pretty solid and error free and can shoot a little bit.
- I don't know about Jameson. He doesn't look like anything special. However, shooting guards take a while to get used to what it takes to get their shots off on the next level. Even Ben Gordon looked like he couldn't do it at this level until half way through his rookie season.

I agree with your Kirk analysis
Wallace looked old and washed up.
Well it's only the second game of the Preseason so there is room to improve. The Starters looked pretty shakey tonight. They need to clean some things up.

I'm with you on Gardner
Also, I'm with you on the lovabulls. what's the deal? Is it a P.C. thing where ugly girls have an equal chance of getting on the squad?
* Disagree with you on Ben Wallace. I think he will have a great season. I think he finally feels comfortable in Chicago. Plus he has his headband. hahaha. Uncordinated?? huh? He is an athletic player + has a great feel for the game.
Also, the Bulls organization would never do this...but, go back to the old Chicago Stadium policy. No time-out distractions for the casual fan. I'm getting so sick of Benny the Bull, t-shirts being shot into the crowd, inflateable benny races, and all that crap. Keep the Donut race simply because it was done in the Chicago Stadium. It should be JUST ABOUT THE GAME!

He won't do that in the NBA!!!
Just because he was pushed by Hollinger, doesn't mean he's a good player.
*** FROM DRAFT EXPRESS.com
Weaknesses
The big question about Fazekas, and the reason that he might be kept out of the 1st round is his physical strength. Even though he puts up great numbers, they are usually against weaker competition. He is not the ideal physical specimen most teams look for in a power forward. Because of that he might have trouble against superior athletes at that position.
His lack of strength could cause him to get pushed around by bigger players, and there are major question marks about how he will be able to hold his position on the block. His upper body strength is especially poor. What's most concerning about this is the fact that his frame is extremely narrow, particularly in his shoulders, which leads you to believe that he will have a very difficult time putting on more weight.
His lack of athleticism is also an issue. Fazekas is just an average leaper at the college level, and noticeably lacks quickness. He runs the floor fairly awkwardly as well. Defensively, this lack of strength and footspeed is a major concern. Laterally, his feet are likely not quick enough to stay in front of perimeter oriented power forwards, while in the post it's hard to see him matching up very well with bruising back to the basket types. Fazekas is already an average defender at best, so one has to question what to expect out of him at the next level.
The ironic part about Fazekas's ability to shoot the basketball is the fact that while his jumper looks excellent, his shooting percentages from the 3-point line have gone down since his freshman year. As a freshman he was truly a perimeter big man that could really hit 3-point shots. However, as defenses have paid closer attention to him, his 3-point shooting has gone down.
Even though his arsenal of post moves is quite developed, he might have trouble against players that are almost always going to be strong than him. Will he still be able to get off the same type of shots he did in college at the next level, and will he be able to adapt his game to a different type of defender? He will also have to learn how to get post position against players that will physically not let him set up and get the ball freely.
Another issue with his lack of strength is the fact that potentially he could have trouble rebounding and boxing out strong players. Even against weak competition, at times he gets pushed around under the boards too easily.
