Undrafted players

I wonder if the Bulls might take a look at Kevin Pittsnogle (6-11, 250) in the summer league? He'd might be a decent third center if we pick up Nazr or Pryz. Any other undrafted players you think the Bulls should look at?

Even though it won't happen.....
I'd McNamara to get a shot.

Mike Gansey
Gansey also didn't get drafted, and isn't he far better than McNamara?

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Jun 29, 2006 12:04 AM CDT up reply actions

Yeah
Gansey is ranked higher overall.  I've just always been a fan of McNamara and how clutch/good of a leader he is.

Do you think the Bulls have a chance at getting either though?

Gansey
Yes!  Shocked Gansey didn't get picked.  He's a perfect Pargo upgrade.

Dean
I thought Taquan Dean would have been drafted. I liked him in college. Not sure he'd fit with the Bulls but I think he'll find a roster spot somewhere.

He can play defense
And would replace Pargo well I think.  Or Pike.  Either way, he can really play.

Washington
Darius Washington should be a guy we definately look at. He's a gamer who gets to the line, plays tough D, passes the ball and is extremely athletic. Think Duhon with ups and he's always in attack mode.

Pargo upgrade
At first I agreed with the thought that some of these undrafted players (namely Dean and Gansey) would be an updgrade over Pargo, but I don't see the point in dumping Pargo to bring in a rookie.

Pargo is an NBA veteran, knows the system/coaches...why bring in another rookie to take his spot on the (end of the) bench?

by your friendly BullsBlogger on Jun 29, 2006 10:50 AM CDT reply actions

because gansey
is smarter, a better shooter, more athletic, and a better defender.

Don't
we have enough people possibly leaving that it won't matter if we bring on a couple of undrafted players?

Just don't resign some of them and let Dean/Gansey take their spots.

Problem solved.

by Colossus @ Blog a Bull on Jun 29, 2006 3:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep
Might as well take a flyer on a couple undrafted guys and invite them to camp.

by Mike Aparicio on Jun 29, 2006 5:42 PM CDT up reply actions

It doesn't matter if they are better
It matters if they practice harder.  None of these guys is going to see any significant time.  Their only value is as practice players.  Some rookie who hasn't got a clue how to run an opponents offense isn't worth much.

I don't have a problem with Pargo
Pargo is one of the better IR guys in the league, there aren't too many tiny guards that anchor the very end of the bench that can fill it up every once in a while.
