So, Posey has signed with the Celtics...
Does this bother anyone else? He signed a two year contract, only half of which is gaurantied, for 7.5 million dollars.
I was kind looking foward to half heartingly rooting for the new look celtics as an interesting on going experiement in lopsided talent mixtures. But now that Posey is on their squad, I hate them passionately. More importantly, though, the C's are alot nastier for the bulls to match up with because now Possey will be on defensive Deng duty, and our offensive will probably rest competely on our guards.
On a positive note, Posey's defection diffinitely takes the heat down a couple of notches-unless they let him go because they are going to trade for Ron-Ron.

I think we should trade for him.
If he's on the Celtics and starts something, Big Ben just might decapitate him.

This really does concern me
I really believed that the Celtics were going to cheap out on their bench given that they're in luxury tax land. Minimum contracts for all since they're effectively not taxed.
But Posey is getting part of the MLE, and he's much better than what a vet minimum deal (including Reggie Miller) could've landed.
He's a dirty player but when not headhunting is a good team defender, something that the Celtics will need. And now they can afford to rest Pierce and Allen more with Posey behind them and not some D-Leaguer.
There's still reasons to piss in C's fans Green Kool-aid, but Posey means there's one less reason.

Another wing player.
If the want start him at point thats even better yet.
He does improve their bench which is some concern but not a hell of a lot.
If I were the C's I would of after Luke Ridnour from Seattle. They have been trying to get rid of him for awhile.

They needed depth at the wing
They do still need Center help. No way Perkins plays a full season, or Pollard even plays half.
I'm not saying they don't still have problems, but I do think wing depth was a major one that's now partially alleviated.

apparently they're now done
point guard and center be damned.
I think that Ray Allen can handle some PG minutes. I'd still be concerned that they have no reliable post defenders outside of Garnett. Unless you're a really really really big Kendrick Perkins fan.
