Take this man's vote away!

bwahahahahaha:

Chris Duhon received 1 second-place vote for the NBA's sixth man award, which went to Phoenix guard Leandro Barbosa.
Maybe someone was particularly homerriffic. Judging by the local media today, I'm surprised more votes didn't go to Nocioni (whether he qualifed or not).

That's awesome!
Seriously, he should have won 6th man of the year. No, seriously.

Why is this not getting any attention?
There was no announcement of any fine for Miami center Shaquille O'Neal for criticizing officials following the game, though that would seem inevitable.

Conspiracy theorists UNITE!!! No word on Shaq's fine. Will the game be called noticeably different tonight? Hmmm... I wonder.

by tyger1147 on Apr 24, 2007 10:47 AM CDT reply actions

I was wondering about that too.
What the hell? If this was someone on the Bulls, he would've been fined by now.
PLAYOFF TIME. LETS GO CHICAGO!

I don't get that
especially after he called out the ref by name. Must be the "all star" treatment at work.
Note to Shaq...there is no crying in basketball.

ive noticed that too
if he doesnt get hti with a fine ill lose all respect for stern...

that being said, perhaops the fine is hush hush not to draw any attention to the reffing

People on here shouldn't be talking . . .
Considering some of the votes people here cast for the post-season awards.

by Big D on Apr 24, 2007 11:13 AM CDT reply actions

Our votes
aren't 'real' votes. The mouth-breathers at GSOM and Bullets Forever are going to vote for Baron Davis, Al Harrington, and Caron Butler. We might as well vote for the highly underrated Bulls roster.

by Paxson Jackson @ Blog a Bull on Apr 24, 2007 11:21 AM CDT up reply actions

Except
Nobody voted for Butler anywhere on BF, and GSOM forgot to post their threads.

Only 1 vote for Dirk
and the rest for Nash and Kobe is as good as a bunch of people sweating Caron Butler. The Racine Rogue probably should be considered for MIP.

lol, that is harsh.  People are going to think you don't like them.

As long as it's in good fun
Whatever.

But at least for me, my readers and I go hand-in-hand.

Fans of any team are going to have biased opinions, whether they're Bulls fans, Wizards fans, or even Memphis Grizzlies fans.  I bet you'll run into someone from Memphis that believes Terrance Kinsey is the second coming of Tiny Archibald.

And I'm not sure what's up with the Caron hate anyway.  Dude's one of the better small forwards in the league.

I never said he wasn't
Although I expect some dropoff in production next season. He's going to come back down to earth at some point. Maybe I should have used Stevenson as an example. D.C. sports are overexposed on the internet, and I could use a break.

SF i would rather have
in no parituclar order and contracts i dont care either...simply talent and stats

josh smith
paul peirce
gerald wallace
luol deng
lebron james
melo
prince
tmac
rashard
marion
iggy

thats 11 id place immediately ahead of him and i was just going by tarting line ups that i can remember alphabetically

by milesgmsu on Apr 24, 2007 5:33 PM CDT up reply actions

that's taking it a little too far
Prince doesn't belong within a mile of your small forwards list, and Butler is about even with the second tier guys on there.

by Paxson Jackson @ Blog a Bull on Apr 24, 2007 5:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Really?
You'd rather have Josh Smith?  Not me.  If he develops a consistent jumper, then get back to me.

T-Mac is a guard.

Paxjax made my argument for me on Prince

Rashard Lewis is about to be a max player

Wallace has more talent, and at his best, he's better, but his production varies too much from game-to-game, and I'm skeptical of his finish this year (contract year).

Small forwards are tricky to evaluate as a whole, because there's a surplus of them, and, depending on the team, they can have many different roles.  It's hard to say, for example, who's better between Corey Maggette and Butler, but they do different things, and would not be good fits on their new teams if they switched places.

But considering the contract (very affordable), the production, and the upward trend, I wouldn't trade him for that many other SFs (Deng being one exception).

On the subject of reverting, I think he already did in the second half.  His shooting percentage was abnormally high in the first half, true, but then it lowered significantly in the second half before he got hurt.

Anyway, Stevenson is a better example of an overhyped Wizard, based on his play without Arenas and Butler in the last 3 months.

I noticed
the dip in production after I typed. I guess I was right complaining about the Wizards' third best player going to the All-Star Game when the Bulls couldn't squeeze one guy in. And Jamison is their best player right now, so I'm double-right!

by Paxson Jackson @ Blog a Bull on Apr 24, 2007 5:56 PM CDT up reply actions

i siad contracts not withstanding
if were including contracts then that list gets cut in about half

I don't consider t-mac a guard....he's a wing...he can play guard or forward, but for the sake of argument eh falls into forward while kobe and wade are guards

Smith cares me atitude wise, but i think hes a far better player (when he wants to be) that butler ever will....plus butler has a very iffy past and i'm not sold on his abilities

it was merely a list...the arugment, however, is still there that butler is a 2nd tier SF at best, a cut below star, and defentely didnt deserve ASG honours over deng

by milesgmsu on Apr 26, 2007 12:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Butler was having a better season than Deng
before the ASG, and the only real argument for Deng going was that the Bulls didn't have any representatives. A team that's been to the playoffs, is in a big market, and is playoff bound again should be able to send at least one guy. I'd still say Butler was worthy of the selection, but it doesn't mean the Bulls didn't get screwed either. Butler's past has nothing to do with basketball, and there's no way you heard about him spending time in juvenile detention (not that big of a deal by the way) without the basketball saved my life conclusion to the story.

by Paxson Jackson @ Blog a Bull on Apr 26, 2007 12:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Character issues
That's a bunch of crap too, Miles. Butler's history has no bearing on anything, and I'd say the same for Smith and his salute to the fans. My specific problem with this is that you would use a supposedly redeemed guy's past as a tool for argument, and ignore Smith's problem with freaking out during a game. If you're going to evaluate the character of people you don't know, and apply it as if it really can be applied with certainty - at least be fair.

ill limit this to one GSOM/Oakland/Warriors joke
because i really like the team, am rooting for them, and gotta love jrich

No wonder they forgot...too busy with the funions...and dodging stephen jacksons gun shots of joy for making the playoffs...

guess that was two but whadya gonna do

David Thorpe chat
Granted, Thorpe himself isn't explicitly saying he believes this as well:
Duhon is recognized as a legit starting pg with potential to captain a champion.

I agree, that Duke team he was on was pretty good :-p
