Heat to trade for Ricky Davis and Mark Blount
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3077037
They're giving up Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac, and Wayne Simien.
As much of a turd as Davis can be at times, he's still a big upgrade on Antoine Walker. Blount is a stiff, but it's not like he'll play much behind Shaq and Zo (at least until Shaq suffers his yearly injury). Damn, I was looking forward to seeing them miss the playoffs this year. Unless Davis was literally setting things on fire in the Minnesota locker room, I have no idea why Minnesota makes this trad. . . oh wait, Kevin McHale is their GM. Never mind.

expiring deals aren't that valuable
I don't think Minnesota was going to use Davis midseason to get a multi-year salaried player back. Doleac and Simien are ~$4m of expiring money in return, so not too bad of a tradeoff.

Gah!
It just seems natural for both teams. Miami desperately needs firepower, especially since they don't know when Wade's coming back. (nice of him to put off his surgery till mid-summer, whattaguy)
The Wolves don't need Ricky Davis taking minutes, and definately don't want Mark Blount on their books or in their locker room.
The big question is if they get a draft pick (any 1st rounder helps considering how much they've been giving them away before now), and the details of Walker's contract. Part of what piqued my interest in a Walker-to-Minnesota deal was reading this on Sham's salary page:
Now unless that condition is waived if he's traded, that's a huge bonus for the TWolves to know they only have 2 guaranteed years for Walker as opposed to 3 years for Blount. They'll likely just buy his fat ass out.
McHale has run the franchise in the ground, but at least he's actively trying to un-do salary mistakes. First with James-for-Howard, then Hassell-for-Buckner, and now Blount-for-Walker. It's a slow process but it's hard to dump these mid-level players who make too much guaranteed money. Lets hope Nocioni plays well, heh.

makes sense now
The way things have been going in the BaB comment section I expect Walker-longing if and when he gets bought out.

minnesota
they are playing essentially all youngin's, or guys lucky to the make the 8 man rotation...Ricky would have been good for at least 6 or 7 wins (not to mention the 40 losses) a year, but now who is going to score besides jefferson (who i'm not even sold on). Who is there 2nd best player (telfair, green, mccants, foye, JARIC!) Ugh, i need a shower. This team could set numerous records for futility, including my bold preseason prediction - lowest PPG of a non-fratello coached team.
If fratello coached this team, they might not crack 55 numerous times.
And here's one last positive; we can write those 2 losses to the twolves every year into wins, and our record of 49 points in a game may be broken
12-70 final record

It was likely
I think Davis gets a bad rep. He may be somewhat shot-happy but I don't think he's that bad of a teammate.

especially
I love this move as I don't see it helping the Heat in a meaningful way.

it helps Heat
it at least gives Heat another option on offense, the rest of their roster is not used to being person to be looked at to score

can't help but
...you get tied up and robbed in your house, you get told by your boss that you're fat and out of shape, and then you get shipped out of Miami (the mecca of fun, sun, and hot women)...to a boring cold-weather city, to team that MAY not even keep you! DAMN!
