Game Thread #13: Bulls at New York Knicks

(Won't be around much today, so figured I should get this up early.)

Hot damn the Bulls need a win. Although it's not only the losing, but looking terrible in losses. All you nuts ready to fire Skiles are still completely insane though, and likely have not watched much Bulls basketball the past few seasons.

I think we can all agree to hope that Wallace plays like he gives a damn tonight.

As far as the opponent, no need to go into the Bulls/Knicks relationship. Just win!

I'll be at the garden
booing Isiah, Starbury, and company.  Although David Lee is a favorite of mine.

Sigh
I live in Jersey and marked this down months in advance.  Unfortunately, I will be working and won't see the game in person or on TV.  I'll try to make the 12/22 game.  The Knicks still make me feel better about the Bulls (I know that's not much, but still).

One other thing on Wallace
I just re-read Matt's post and realized that we are actually hoping Ben Wallace plays like he gives a damn.  That is insane, considering his whole game is about hustle, effort, and heart.  I hope he hasn't turned in to one of the many guys who gets the big contract and turns into a turns into a mental case from the pressure.

by bigballa10 on Nov 25, 2006 2:14 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

oops
the last part should have been "and turns into a mental case from the pressure."

zero rebounds?
I didn't see the game last night.  I'm not sure how zero rebounds by wallace in almost twenty minutes is even possible.  I'm serious, I don't know how that is possible.  It's like failing out of school, you have to be trying to fail.
I'm sick of my name, damn gwkd.

I'm hoping
to see both Bens have great games tonight. One thing I have noticed about Ben W. is his jogging down the court. I've really noticed it more the last couple of weeks. He's being paid millions so he should be running down the court. IMO

Any way I hope they get a win tonight.

Thabo....the accent is sweet!!

by sue369 on Nov 25, 2006 4:14 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I hope so too, but low post play will be a problem
The celtics lost to the knicks last night, in part, because they also lack a post presence.  Against Curry especially, the bulls are giving away an advantage by not having a post player.

I hope that Sweets has lost weight/gotten out of the doghouse/miraculously shrunk/held Skiles hostage in the training room/ so he can play tonight.

I'm sick of my name, damn gwkd.

sweets
i personally agree and think that a thin sweetney is the answer to our prayers...he would fill the only gaping hole on our team if he could play 25+ minutes a night...but night now he can't get his fat ass up and down the court for more than a couple posessions

by kaptainkirk23 on Nov 25, 2006 4:41 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sweets websurfing
What do you think he thinks when he sees a post like this?

by bullshooter on Nov 25, 2006 5:17 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I would guess
Mike is googling a good price on a palette of Krispy Kremes, but as good as he is (in shape or not) he certainly isn't the answer for the Bulls. I would rather see more Sweetney than Malik Allen though.

Change the line up already!!
I's so sick of Duhon starting! We haven't won a game with him in the starting 5!

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 6:33 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

by the way . .
If Wallace doesn't get double digit rebounds tonight matched up against Eddy "2 rebounds" Curry, I'll be really pissed.

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 6:35 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Why?
Why did Wallace get pulled after 2 minutes?! I didn't see anything he did wrong.

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 6:46 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yes
I'm diggin the intensity.

I am digging
Eddy back in cornrows. Let's hear it for 1993!

by Paxson Jackson on Nov 25, 2006 6:48 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Deng is tearing it up...
Duhon is tearing it down.

by Paxson Jackson on Nov 25, 2006 6:53 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Why did we pull Wallace?
And if we're going to pull him after 2 minutes like this, why the hell did we bother signing him to that huge contact?

by Big D on Nov 25, 2006 6:58 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I have to praise
Scott Skiles for pulling Big Ben if his presence on the court truly hurts the Bulls. Here's hoping Crawford remembers how to miss.

nice dunk, and Henry Abbott can kiss my ass if he's looking for royalties.

that's funny
I think Mr. Abbott would laugh, too.

by KT on Nov 25, 2006 7:58 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow, the Knicks really suck
I know that's not a huge revelation or anything, but they're taking their suckitude to a whole new level tonight.

by Big D on Nov 25, 2006 7:35 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

is it safe
to say that the losing streak is over?

Deng is really impressing me this season. 2 wishes though. To improve his three point shot, and to attack the basket more.

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 7:38 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

At least
I'm cheering without swearing tonight. :)
Thabo....the accent is sweet!!

Headband
I don't know if this is an issue but Ben Wallace started the game wearing a headband. After a few minutes he was pulled and for awhile left the headband on. Then he took it off and was put back in the game. The Bulls have a no headband policy. I wonder if we just saw a little power struggle between Big Ben and Skiles.

by Incognito on Nov 25, 2006 7:57 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

darn
misread that comment.  . .....nevermind.
I'm sick of my name, damn gwkd.

by GWKD on Nov 25, 2006 8:06 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hmmm . . .
If that's what it was, then Skiles is fucking crazy.  Skiles would have no chance of winning that power struggle.  Wallace is the one with the huge contract; we'd have a hard time trading him even if we wanted to.

by Big D on Nov 25, 2006 8:17 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the rule is wacky,
but undermining it is a tad bit wackier. I honestly didn't see the opening minutes, but headband or no headband feuding with a coach as well entrenched as Skiles is a futile effort.

by Paxson Jackson on Nov 25, 2006 8:27 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Allen
Did Allen just start the second half?

So both Bens are out of the starting line-up (temporarily)?

And Skiles just got ejected!

by nas on Nov 25, 2006 7:58 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Skiles
what does he have to be mad at? We're up by 23!

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 7:58 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

if we lose
I wont watch another game all year

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 8:02 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

ARGH!!!!
They make me wanna kill myself! PUT BOTH BENS IN NOW!

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 8:07 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

lemme get this straight
Malik Allen started. PJ Brown filled in for him. Sweetney just replaced Brown. What the fuck is wrong with Ben Wallace?!

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 8:09 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

anybody
watching the game at all? our first win in a long time and no one seems to be watching

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 8:40 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

anybody
There's still time...

by nas on Nov 25, 2006 8:45 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

anybody
And Duhon gets way too much playing time imo for the kind of player he is. I still don't get him starting.

dagger
i wanna hear the word dagger come out already

by george i've got it
wallace has been playing too much....its j ust a theory but maybe the reason we've been suckin has been wallace been playin too much after two years of spreading the minutes around equally to find who has the hot hand every single night(like allen 2nite), this team wasnt built on having a superstar or a set 5 who each play 40 minutes a night....the bulls are a TEAM....we have to USE our players...plus i think tyrus has been playin FAR too much...he' just not ready

by kaptainkirk23 on Nov 25, 2006 8:51 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

nope.
Believe it or not, every other TEAM in the NBA is a TEAM.

by Paxson Jackson on Nov 25, 2006 8:56 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Remember, there's no "I" in team!
But strangely enough, there are two in "winning."

by Big D on Nov 25, 2006 9:01 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

comment still stands
if we lose, i aint watching any more games

by Option27 on Nov 25, 2006 8:54 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Renaldo Balkman
For all the shit Isiah got for drafting him, he looks like a pretty good player.  He'd fit in well on our team, actually.

by Big D on Nov 25, 2006 8:56 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the "shit"
was because he could have drafted a badly needed real point guard who ended up going to the New Jersey nets, and still ended up with Balkman.

A real point guard and the Knicks would be much, much better.

by KT on Nov 25, 2006 9:23 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nah
The shit was because of Balkman, plain and simple. He wasn't high on other teams' lists so it came across as a totally random pick.
Say what you want about Isiah (and who hasn't), but dude can draft. Make him a scout!

by bleargh on Nov 26, 2006 11:45 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I like him
Deng was owned by Balkman
No D!!!

Observation
Less coaching during Knicks run, means players have to fight comeback and hold the lead themselves.

by exult463 on Nov 25, 2006 9:00 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

almost was 3-10
for a minute or two anyway. A victory is wonderful, and Starbury pouting on th becnh is pretty entertaining, but the Bulls could have had a better hold on that lead by not relying on Nocioni and Duhon for a long stetch.

by Paxson Jackson on Nov 25, 2006 9:07 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It wasn't
pretty but it is a win. I'm sure the guys are happy to be going home for a long home stretch.
Thabo....the accent is sweet!!

Pretty crazy...
situation with Wallace.  Why is he so stubburn?  Did he really think the no headband rule was to blame for his pathetic 0,0 night in Phily?  Boy, do I hope he returns to the Wallace we thought we were getting!  As team co-captain, that is no way to act..
