Player A: 15.0 PER, 18.8 USG%, 51.8 TS%, 14.5 TRB%, 4.1 BLK%, 12.6 TO%
Player B: 16.5 PER, 22.8 USG%, 51.4 TS%, 15.5 TRB%, 4.2 BLK%, 14.6 TO%
Guess which player is Randolph and which is Taj?
A is Taj and B is Randolph. The big difference comes in these two numbers: Taj plays 74 games/season vs 42 for Randolph, and Taj wins mpg 24.3 to 15.2. So given that when he plays, Randolph seems to produce at a Taj-like rate, why can't he get more burn? Is he strangling his coach? Biting people? Or is he like the most injury prone player ever?
And the next question is what happened last season? 12.2 PER, 19.8 USG%, 49.9 TS%, 12.5 TRB%, 2.7 BLK%, 15.9 TO% in 43 games at 12.3 mpg. If that's his new normal, he sucks. But if he can bounce back to his career numbers, he could be a valuable backup, maybe for both Jo and Taj. The folks over at denverstiffs think dumping him was the best part of the trade for them, so that's concerning.
