I've thought most of the criticisms leveled at Thibs were incorrect, but I attended the Pacers/Hawks game 7 this weekend and it finally sank in that there's a major problem with him that's not really been talked about. Watching Kyle Korver again, I thought, damn, he's good, and I also wondered why I didn't remember him that much as a Bull.
Well, the big reason I don't remember him that much is because Thibs didn't play him. As a Bull, Korver averaged 20.1 and 22.6 minutes a game. And 17.3 and 15.7 mpg in the playoffs.
In contrast, 30.5/29.5 and 33.9/35.7 in his two years with the Hawks. Who were successful beyond expectations both of the past two seasons.
To put it simply, Korver should have been playing 8 to 10 minutes more for us than he actually did, and I think that's a direct result of Thibs' both failing to understand how good he was and failing to use him well enough.
