Carmelo Anthony has infinite reasons to leave the Knicks in the proverbial dust. The reasons are truly immeasurable. Trust me I checked it out, it’s endless. He has a solitary reason to sign with the NBA’s Chicago Bulls. Why? Why would he want to sign with the Chicago Bulls? If Melo really IS dedicated to winning a championship to galvanize his career then the Bulls are his only choice. Can anyone argue that the Bulls are just 2 superstar caliber players away from winning a title? The Bulls have arguably the best coach in the NBA; Thibs has gotten the most out of every player that the Bulls have on the roster. Excluding the current playoffs the Chicago Bulls have a track record for achieving when they weren’t supposed to. Last year they weren’t supposed to defeat the Nets and they won in 7, everyone has counted them out the last couple years because of the D.Rose injury issues, time after time pundits and commentators have counted the Bulls out. They fought hard this year and achieved a 4 seed with a team that was put together from a list of grocery baggers from Target. Regardless of the shameful way they bowed out against the Wizards the Bulls are still a good team that need a couple of legitimate shooting and scoring threats on the court.
So what’s the current solution to end the Bulls post season anguish? Three things need to happen for the Bulls to contend next year for a championship. Get Mirotic in a Bulls uniform. This is paramount above all else that he has a contract with the Bulls for the 2014-15 season. Mirotic will need time to marinate in the NBA and to really grow into his game. I mean let’s face it, no one should expect him to be the next "Dirk Nowitzki"as soon as he gets off the plane, nevertheless he should be able to contribute and the Bulls will need his scoring ability.
D.Rose must remain healthy for the 2014-15 NBA season. I can’t expect Rose to be the same player that he was 2-3 years ago, which is truly unfortunate. The NBA has lost if he can’t eventually return to his level of play that he was at before his injuries. All I can hope for out of Rose is that he has improved his outside shot and he regains his confidence as a vital piece in leading this team. Rose doesn’t have to go out and win another MVP award but he needs a good solid season to really get back on track mentally and physically.
If the Bulls really want to compete for a title they must go after Carmelo Anthony and sign him. There it is… I’ve said it. I wasn’t entertaining this thought in the slightest earlier this year. To be honest why would anyone want him? Bad attitude, bad teammate, selfish on the court, un-coachable, are any of these sounding familiar? I mean that’s all I’ve heard about the guy. There’s a difference in a player when he actually gets a real coach. Carmelo Anthony has never had a coach like Thibs, not even at Syracuse and Coach Thibodeau is that difference. Thibs has established himself as a great coach, and if Carmelo has any brains at ALL he will sign with the Bulls. If it so happens that Carmelo Anthony doesn’t even interview with the Bulls then all I can believe is that he is a player who has selfishly devoted his NBA career to padding his stats and his bank account. That’s the only conclusion anyone could come to. Seriously… the Lakers don’t even have a coach right now. I just don’t see the attraction of the Lakers as a place for Carmelo to go to, it would be New York all over again just in a nicer climate. The Lakers just don’t have the pieces to win next year even if they sign Melo. Signing with Miami would be highly unlikely because they need to keep the Evil Empire together. The Thunder, Nets,Pacers,Rockets,Clippers and Spurs don’t have the money. The rest of the NBA teams just don’t have the supporting cast of the Chicago Bulls, take any one of the free agent Superstar players that are available, you put them on the Bulls roster and the Bulls are in the "contending for a championship" conversation.
The Bulls need scoring, scoring & more scoring, they finished dead last in the NBA…that’s right DEAD LAST…how did they even make the playoffs!? I’m run-down with "the GarPax/Reinsdorf pussy footin’ around show", what are these guys waiting for? Can they make something happen that is amazing in free agency? Can they make a trade in the draft to move up to get an exciting player? Bulls have two 1st round picks this year, in a draft class that is supposed to be as deep as the 2003 draft, can they package up those 2 picks and get inside the top 10? We don’t need another Taj Gibson or Jimmy Butler type player, the roster is loaded with those type of tooth and nail players, HEY GAR FORMAN get a legit scorer who can hit threes and put up 25 a game!
To wrap things up here the Bulls season is officially over and we can dream up all the scenarios we want about free agency and the draft, but the reality is the Bulls front office needs to treat this summer like boxing "stick & move, stick & move" if they want things to change come playoff time.
