Ahead of this Bulls game against Miami, I started wondering if this is the last year that we see Lebron in a Heat jersey. I think if the Heat don't win the title this year and DWade just doesn't look the same then there is a fairly good chance that Lebron bolts. Now I am under no illusions that he would come here, I think the real candidates for Lebron would be contending Western Conference teams with young assets and large contracts for a sign and trade (Houston, Portland, Golden State, Clippers). However in this scenario the Heat are suddenly overnight no longer title contenders.
This begs the question, what would Bosh and Wade do? Bosh is in the middle of his prime and Wade on the obvious downside of his career, but both have been playing for Championships for several years now and I doubt that they would want to play for a team with no shot at another ring. Both are looking for max or close to max money.
Thinking about how the league would look if the Heat were to implode, and the teams that could make a move and would be seen as a potential contender for one or both of those 2 to sign with, I would have to think that the Bulls would be near the top of the list. You would also think the Knicks, Dallas, and Houston/Golden State (if they don't add Lebron) would be in the mix. I guess while its certainly very far fetched (like 2% chance), there could be the possibility that we would add 1-2 of the Big 3. Whatever happens, if Lebron leaves the rest of the Heat players aren't going to just sit tight on a 4-5 seed, and that could make this off season very interesting indeed.
