Word is that it is a straight up trade. I guess this goes to show that it is really, really difficult to predict what a front office will do. It seems like Boston is the clear winner and, if anyone had suggested this trade to me a week ago, I would have said they were crazy. Lee has 2 years and 11 million left on his contract. He might be worth that but this is exactly the kind of contract that screws up your flexibility.
I have no idea why Memphis would do this as he really does not solve their SF problem and, while his shooting is good, he is not elite and only scores 7ppg. I think Danny Ainge is on a roll. If they're tearing down grit n' grind, Lee's contract is the last thing you want. If they are trying to put together one last run, he is nowhere near impactful enough, even though he is a decent shooter.
Totally nonsensical. In fact, it looks like the Griz made the exact mistake that Ainge just fixed, insofar as they added Lee to their roster to get one last run that will probably never materialize and will then be stuck with him as they try to rebuild.
